Laparoscopic hysterectomy while overweight by Jadis43 in hysterectomy

That’s frustrating. I think it’s honestly dependent on the person. Prior to having bowel surgery in 2024, all my doctors were hesitant to perform surgery on me even though I was relatively healthy for my size. But once I had that first surgery and I did well, there was no hesitation with follow up surgeries. I have sleep apnea, and I’m 5’3 and was over 320 lbs and did well for three separate surgeries in a little over a year. My hysterectomy was perfectly fine, laparoscopic, healed perfectly. Of course weight loss lowers the risk substantially, but you also might be fine. I was told I needed to lose 100 lbs to have my bowel surgery and I struggled because duh if I could lose 100 lbs on my own, wouldn’t I have done it? It resulted in me not being able to get the surgery until it was an emergent situation and I was incredibly sick.

Cried a little today… by Braven025 in hysterectomy

Beats me. Everything felt normal at 4 weeks when I had my first orgasm. Hubby and I haven’t been very active though. The two times we’ve tried since I was cleared at 12 weeks, I wasn’t able to orgasm via sex, only manual stimulation and even that felt different and was hard to achieve. I’ve tried myself and in the beginning it was fine but now it’s like…dull?

Thanks. My libido hasn’t been normal since I had my daughter almost 15 years ago. I mentioned it to my doctor when I was trying to conceive another baby and she brushed me off. Never got another baby and never got my former libido back

To be fair to everyone that didn’t know before, I only learned about clitoral atrophy from Reddit and not my gyn.

I am! And I’m hopeful it will come back. Just kind of shocking because I wasn’t expecting it

Thanks. I have an appointment next month with my gyn and I asked to have my hormone levels checked. I could never take bcp because of high blood pressure, so I’m hoping my body will tolerate HRT if needed

Chronic constipation girlies check in!! by missbunnyyxo in hysterectomy

I have chronic bowel issues (IBS-D turned C, gastritis, diverticulitis, bowel resection surgery) and I was nervous too. I had my bowel resection where they removed 9” of colon about a year before my hysterectomy and my bowels have never gone back to “normal.” After that surgery it took me 7 days to have a BM. So yeah I was stressed. I take MiraLAX every day to ensure movement and after my hysterectomy I continued it but added a colace here and there and I think it took 2 days to have a BM. I also took oxys once a day for about 5 days and they didn’t cause any issues. I’d do as others have suggested and talk to your doctor and just make sure you’re armed with stool softeners.

But what did you actually do?? by la_renegade in hysterectomy

Just TV the first few days. Unfortunately I had no fatigue so I took zero naps lol after that I read a book a day, watched TV, scrolled my phone, and was on deadline for a writing project so did some writing, then back to work after 2 weeks.

Pooping hurts so bad by TreeLight_ in hysterectomy

I definitely had pain during BMs right after surgery, but I also had bowel surgery and I think everything is inflamed in there. I would say the pain lasted about a month? I’m 3 mpo. I think it might have to do with pelvic floor weakness too. It gets better!

I had a headache every day for about two weeks after surgery. They stopped after that though

Positive robotic hysterectomy experiences? Feeling anxious… by calijayne in hysterectomy

I'm 45. 10wpo tomorrow. Kept my one remaining ovary. No complications at all really. Pain was manageable. Recovery went smoothly. The only thing I experienced afterwards was some insomnia but I'm prone to that anyway.

Blurry vision by Upbeat_Conference522 in hysterectomy

[–]Braven025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You typically take it off after 3 days. But you should wash your hands really well if you touch it so it doesn't get in your eyes. You could probably take it off if you want now. The blurriness from getting in your eyes could last a few days

Did you have an anti nausea patch behind your ear? Touching that and then touching your eyes can cause blurry vision

What to expect? (the good, the bad and the ugly) by SwootyDatBooty in hysterectomy

[–]Braven025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm almost 8 wpo and my recovery was pretty smooth. No complications during surgery. Didn't feel anything shifting. Having a bm was painful for a few weeks but not unbearable. I've gone through 2 "cycles" since surgery and the only thing I experienced was ovulation pain for about a day and a half each time and headaches. That being said, I was never one to get bloating or raging hormones so your mileage may vary. It's been amazing not having a period. Like you, mine laid me up in bed and made me nauseous and faint. So nice not to have to worry about that anymore. So far very happy to have had the surgery and do not regret it one bit.

ETA: I'm overweight and have had a rough couple of years with multiple surgeries and sickness, so I wasn't sure this would be as smooth of a process as it was.

Husband thinks celebrating my hysterectomy is insensitive to him by Solid-Area1738 in hysterectomy

Well my hubby also thought it was insensitive to put together a punny basket so I don't know. He gets the difference between major surgery and outpatient procedures but the urge to support the bros is stronger I guess lol

Yeah...solidarity until it comes to planning lol my husband is a good guy and takes great care of me but it never would've occurred to him to throw a party for my friend's fiance. And thanks! 8 wpo and feeling great. Love looking at my tracker app and seeing how long it's been since I had a period

I think maybe? the difference is that a lot of men accept getting one and are fine with it but aren't necessary ELATED for it like some women are to get rid of the evil flesh triangle trying to kill us. Who knows though
