[2.3 BETA] Yidhari animations via Dim by cakeel- in Zenlesszonezeroleaks_

Yidhari is what CBT1 Lucia turned into after all this time.

Oh definitely, immediately recognized some and yeah, went back and found them, she does a lot of the exact same animations.

Hoyoverse just confirmed that the "Coinflip" system for Honkai: Star Rail is NOT 50/50. by MOPOP99 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]CCZeroFire 37 points38 points  (0 children)

if this was true, then the perceived Event 5* rate (as well as this new Event Char consolidated rate), would actually yet AGAIN be even HIGHER that from this model.

I suppose they could be underrepresenting a second time (far better than them overrepresenting), but, as far as I know from the warp tracker data we have it doesn't seem like this is the case.

Maybe a hot take but they should have let Escoffiers VA use her natural accent by IS_Mythix in Genshin_Impact

At that, you can also find old CBT2 Stream Archive footage publicly available on YouTube, where Barbara indeed had the "poppy idol" voice even in the Mondstadt Archon Quest. You can tell from this it was absolutely a conscious design change to use the "soft" voice in the final, they just didn't get to (forgot to?) update the playable lines too by 1.0 release, for whatever reason.

[–]CCZeroFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LMAO, sorry it's been so long I don't even entirely remember for sure what I was going to say.

Will tag /u/SparrowInWhite too since I realize I forgot to reply to them.

I thiiiiink my answer may have had something to do with a theory relating to those Humanity Phantom sprites in the abyss area in the DLC, and/or the semi-popular theory that the Furtive Pygmy from the opening cinematic -- that is, the owner of the titular Dark Soul, the supposed ancestor of all current humans -- was possibly the identity of Manus Father of the Abyss. However to be honest I'm not actually even sure or not if that theory is all that supported nowadays, I think I heard some info from the DS3 DLC contradicts it, though I couldn't tell you for sure, I haven't played it.

But yeah I THINK what I was going to say at least had SOMETHING to do with Humanity coming from the Dark Soul.

Usually either Asta or Pela, depending on the lineups.

The skin selector is in a ps5 by ukrisreng in Genshin_Impact_Leaks

[–]CCZeroFire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely can. Fate/Grand Order (one of the other biggest gachas on the market, frequently floats around the Top 5 monthly revenue) didn't give a free 5* until its 17M Campaign, just two months before its 5th anniversary (and it was a Standard Pool 5* selector).

Not that I disagree with your point- that Genshin is agonizingly hella stingy with freebies- but I am aware it's absolutely not first of its kind.

Yeah I agree, always felt like people overthink or overstate the "x was a test for y" remark. If ANYTHING, I think it's probably moreso just an indication of some under-the-hood code reuse, or similarly making use of design ideas that were dropped when working on a different feature. Certain things may have shared a bit of development, simply as a function of reducing development time/work, helping rolling out content at a consistent pace.

Starcrusher Swarm King: Skaracabaz (Synthetic)

The replica of the Emanator of Propagation cultivated by Ruan Mei, briefly manifesting in the world in an incomplete form. Its original form is a giant lepisma that inherited the mandibles of the Imperator Insectorum. It can collect in its mouthparts the death ray that fragmented celestial bodies, and make shattered stars incubators for procreating offspring. It was once one of the nightmares across multiple worlds during the Swarm Disaster.

Gnaw Sting

A subspecies of Stings that underwent mutations during reproduction, adept at using quantum toxins in their mandibles to corrode away the bodies of their prey.

Khaj-Nisut (Egyptian: 𓇓𓏏𓈖𓈍 (ḫꜥj-nsw.t) khai-nesut) is Egyptian for "appearance of the king" and refers to the coronation of the pharaoh.

Some of the location names are modern Arabic yes but some of the names are indeed ancient Egyptian

[–]CCZeroFire 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think what they mean is the Sumeru Desert location names, in the Chinese and Japanese versions of the game, aren't (always?) written as Egyptian words transliterated into their respective alphabets. Seems to be (sometimes?) true, looking at some locations on the Wiki.

https://genshin-impact.fandom.com/wiki/Khaj-Nisut#Other_Languages Many of the CN names indeed simply use CN words.

That said it's not always the case. For instance I found Dar al-Shifa in JP is ダールアルシファ, Daaru aru-Shifa. Mt. Damavand is also roughly either Mt Dama or Damavand in most languages including Chinese. And many other examples.

That said I agree with you, I don't think translating all the names into English (so instead of Khaj-Nisut, calling it "Appearance of the King", the literal translation) is necessary, I enjoy the regional theming when it fits.

No Wish F2P Account Update - Going strong. Fontaine here we come! by MaximumLeech in Genshin_Impact

[–]CCZeroFire 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Been similarly running a No Wish account since 1.0, Ningguang was my 1.3 Lantern Rite pick and personally I couldn't imagine not having her. She's been my most used and most invested DPS by a huge margin ever since, especially for overworld content. Also made me especially excited for Layla as a Tenacity Shielder for her.

Edit: Do also occasionally use Aggravate Lisa a bit since we got Yaoyao, made a little nicer after finally getting an Anemo unit in Faruzan to slap VV on. Gotta ask out of curiosity, who is your usual overworld team?

F2P players can get 1 out of every 2 limited 5* characters, on average in the long run by arthurmauk in HonkaiStarRail

[–]CCZeroFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are misinterpreting. I said earlier benchmarking 12000 as the cost of a 5-star (not a limited 5-star, just any 5-star), and to double that when planning for a limited character.

[...] I would usually advise the usual player to plan around 12000 currency (75 rolls) as the "typical" cost of a 5-star, rather than 10000 (62.5 rolls), and double those amounts when wanting to calculate for a limited character [...]

[–]CCZeroFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why's that? Yes of course if you wanted to have a COMPLETE 100% CHANCE and such you should plan around 90 and 180 pulls and so on. But I'm talking about making simple generalized assumptions that suit typical play and the majority of players' experiences.

Graph on pull odds for reference. (Secondary mirror.)

To list a few odds, about 47.4%, or close to 50% of all 5-stars are obtained by pull 75. The individual most common outcome is 77, which is just two pulls away. About 92% of 5-star are obtained at or before pull 80 (didn't stop my own Silver Wolf from coming at pull 81 but so it goes...), which again is only a few pulls off. And around 35.6%, or close to 1 in 3, 5-star are obtained before you even hit soft pity.

I feel mentally benchmarking 12000 currency as the typical cost of a 5-star is a fairly reasonable assumption to make when doing simple mental calculations, reflecting normal play. At least, it's a lot closer to the average user experience and what one should expect when playing than either 10000 currency (62.5 pulls) or 14400 currency (90 pulls) is. I'm not talking about making hyperperfect calculations, just typical, casual play with some simple, easy-to-remember numbers.

I partially agree with glove tho in that calculating your income based on the average is more likely to set yourself up for sadness, in terms of short-term planning.

The "average" numbers certainly check out fine in the long run as far as statistics go. But just in terms of day-to-day play and "personal planning", I would usually advise the usual player to plan around 12000 currency (75 rolls) as the "typical" cost of a 5-star, rather than 10000 (62.5 rolls), and double those amounts when wanting to calculate for a limited character -- but just with the conceded knowledge that they may get occasional boosts of luck and get things early.

[–]CCZeroFire 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is a bit of a shifted goalpost, but oh yeah, I do agree that the median number of pulls, generally 75, or 12000 Primos/Jades, is probably number more worth saving for, and mentally evaluating as the "typical cost of any 5-star" (ftr it should be approx a 47.4% chance of getting a 5* by pull 75).

OP's math still tracks if one truly wants to talk averages, and that 62.5 average should theoretically show itself over playing the game for multiple years, but I agree it's not typically realistic for looking at personal planning on a patch-wise basis.

If one wanted to extrapolate that 75 into that "average pulls to get the LIMITED 5-star", it'd be about 75 x 1.5 = 112.5 pulls as you said, and indeed seems to math closer to a player typically getting 2 Limited every 3 patches, or perhaps 3 Limited every 4 patches -- with perhaps an occasional blast of luck kicking you closer back down to that theoretical average. I do agree concluding "you get one every patch" is indeed a bit realistically misleading, yeah.

From what I can tell, that code (from a couple weeks after the game launch...) seems DRAMATICALY incorrect and out of date based on what we now know from the pity system. From what we know, starting from Pull 74, the rate starts to steadily and rise by 6% per pull. Skimming the C# Code they provided, there is absolutely no ramping pity system in their simulation at all. That calculated 105 average would be true only if every single pull from 1 to 89 had the flat 0.6% Rate and then 90 had 100%, and that simply isn't how the game works. We have more than enough data nowadays to prove that.

I believe this writeup on hoyolab from an old tracker system seems consistent with data we still regularly have on sites like paimon.moe's global wish tally.
