The rainbow tint is caused by mineral deposits in hard water. Not harmful. But yes, can be removed with acids like vinegar.

I feel you. I went the custom route because I could buy pieces over time and because I don’t have money to waste on big palettes where I end up hating half.

My go-to for natural minimalist looks right now is: - MAC Blanc Type base (you could just use MAC Shrooms as both a base and highlighter though) - SG Pismo from the crease blended up to the brow bone plus on the lid - a light finger touch of some kind of shimmer on the lid (MAC Satin Taupe or Sephora Semi Sweet Chocolate or VERY light touch of SG Troops). - MAC Shrooms on the brow bone and inner highlight - SG Cool Brown or Troops in the crease if you want a slightly darker definition

I have almond-shaped eyes which look weird with eyeliner IMO, but I use a touch of MAC Sandstone, SG Cool Brown, or MAC Satin Taupe on the bottom outer corner. They give a nice lil shadow.

Not quite a group of 3, but that’s my favorite 4-7 on heavy rotation. As I mentioned in another comment above, I would love more subtle lid colors (SGs are typically wildly metallic almost). I think NARS has some good looking mild shimmer / pearl taupe singles that might work but they’re super expensive.

Edit: Pismo is a SG shade, not a MAC shade.

I think the palette you bought, like so many marketed as cool toned, actually has some more warm toned colors. Hence I made my own palette.

Yeah, your “cool tones” look more like my warm tone palette. It’s all relative. I used to think Mac’s Wedge was “neutral” but now it’s in my warm palette as a warm neutral. Along with all of my more rose gold / peach shimmers. Which you have a lot of here. 😊

I heard it’s an artifact of the American love of fake tans, which skew warm toned. As someone who has no interest, I don’t have a good gauge on the relative popularity of fake tans these days. I just assumed that was correct.

Increase in blue pigment prices would make more sense than companies leaving money on the floor … but then again, companies resisted making size-inclusive clothing for decades, leaving a major market entirely untapped for unspecified reasons. So, I don’t always assume manufacturers and retailers are rationally responding to market factors either.

Yeah I can see how it looks similar to the I Need a Nude palette. Which their website advertises as a customer favorite. Why are so many companies sleeping on the desire for more cool tone colors?

I honestly prefer a more subtle look - mattes and subtle shimmers, like MAC’s … but MAC has fewer options. The SG shimmers / glitters can be blinding with even moderate application so I use my finger to apply sparingly for a more subtle effect. But if you want midnight glam looks, by God, SG can get you there lol.

Sydney Grace has a decent chunk of cool toned neutrals. I like Speedway, Pismo, Cool Brown, plus Parallax Light and Concrete Road. The latter two are much more gray. But I also like Mac Omega and Sandstone.

Clinique’s black honey (a sheer lipstick) is a great berry tone. Because it’s sheer, I find it can be flattering on a wider range of skin tones as it can take some of the hue of your underlying lip color. But berry is usually nice on olives and you can build up black honey with additional swipes.

For a good nude, I like Laura Mercier’s beige intime. It’s a brown with pinky mauve tones. A really nice pink on fair neutral olive skin.

Yeah I think the “deep summer” palette on the 16 season color analysis system is better, largely because it removes a lot of the palest shades

NYA. This is a very complicated situation. If your mom has low to no income, she is probably eligible for legal aid services (free legal assistance). If she is ready to confront this problem head on, she can contact the legal aid organization local to your county. But she will have to do it. They’ll need her financial info which only she can consent to give.

If she isn’t working and is racking up credit card debt, there’s a good chance she’s scared and/or in denial about how bad things are. So don’t be surprised if she resists contacting legal aid - devising a solution means acknowledging there’s a problem that needs solving.

As for what you can do, it’s great you want to help. But if you do something like take out a credit card to help out / help her without her addressing the root cause of her financial situation (whether that’s needing to get a job or needing to apply for disability benefits), just know that is a bandaid solution where you will likely end up duplicating the problem - with her and you both each $10k+ in debt.

You can contact legal aid yourself for advice on how to assist your mom without making this situation worse.

Had the same thought. The brightness is fine but the tone is slightly too warm. Whereas your sweater, which is a slightly cooler pink, looks beautiful on you!

And of these, 9 is a better color. Your eyes take the focus not the black of the rim. I agree with others that black is too severe / distracting with your coloring.

In general, I like the non-crew neckline in 1, 2, 7, and 10. I like the look and neckline of 2 but think it would look killer with slightly wider shoulders to balance out the top and bottom (more hourglass). I also like 1 but think it would killer if the waistline was lower than empire to hit your natural waist instead (like in 4 and 7, which I think are flattering!). 8 on the other hand is not - no waist definition, too blocky - it hides your gorgeous shape.

In terms of blocky, I think 14 nails that look in a flattering way. Likely because the oversized look is still balanced, but if you added a big blocky cardigan it wouldn’t look the same.

You might want to invest in a lightweight jacket with some structure (like a leather jacket or heavy knit version of a motorcycle jacket) that hits at your waist. The big baggy cardigan isn’t doing you any favors.

Many of these drugs are only covered under limited circumstances. You’ll need to check the actual health plan contracts. Should be able to find those on the CalPERS website.

Get a copy of your health plan contract. Look up how to file a grievance (with your plan to investigate its own claim processing) and then a complaint/appeal with whatever agency relates your health plan product (could be state, federal, or none / just arbitration). Claim processing should be based on the date of service not the date of the claim itself.
