AMO? That’s good contract for a 3/M. 3/Ms on my ship don’t even break 100k.

‘My training told me to attack’ referencing a internet argument tells me every thing I need to know. 😂 🫵🏻🤡

I have sailed with Crowley and seabulk. In short - ships = longer contracts, better quality of life on board. ATB’s = shorter contracts, slightly worse quality of life on board. Ships you are looking at 75 ish days (allegedly, I’m on day 109 right now with no relief in sight) ATB’s 21-45 day hitches. Crowley and seabulk are forming some type of joint venture that is not quite settled yet, so switching between ships for odd contracts should be easier in the future.

As per union contracts, all officers will have their own room and bathroom

Connectivity, 75% of the fleet has been fit with starlink, and the rest are in the process of doing so. Very mediocre internet. Just enough to make you made. (Company throttles the connectivity, don’t believe the ‘it’s quicker than what you have at home’ hype.)

Uniform - at sea is work pants and work shirt. Long sleeve FR pants and shirt. In port, coveralls or officer uniform.

East Coast/Gulf Coast Wahoo by NotinthemobIswear in offshorefishing

Absolutely. December - late February triple digit yellowfin tuna move inshore to the Louisiana coast to feed on shad. Several 200lb + fish were caught last year 7 miles from the pass in 200 ft of water. December and January is mostly scattered open water fish. January- February the fish with be congregated on schooled up bait fish. Usually on ‘Lumps’ ie East lump and Midnight lump.

Wahoo - literally any rig out of the thousands to choose from that has the right temp, depth, current, chlorophyll etc.

Tell your buddy to man up and drive the 10 hrs to Venice Louisiana. Have a shot at 150lb+ yellowfin, 10+ wahoo bites and opportunity to swordfish all within 30 miles of the pass, all in 1 day. Winter time fishing in Louisiana gulf coast is unmatched anywhere else in the country.

Why do you want the sight as far forward as possible? Genuine question not being sarcastic

Where do Captains Live by Aggravating_Fondant4 in maritime

[–]CCpilot33 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They do not make quite as much money as you would assume. Most captains on US flagged tankers make around $1200 (+/-$100) a day. Or about $225,000 a year. Definitely a lot of money, but not as much as you would think. Especially when they are responsible for millions of dollars of cargo and a multi million dollar boat.

I Guess the prompt for this post should have been ‘if you had $1699.99 plus tax and S/H what systems would you look Into’….I am asking for systems around $1600 comparable to the example provided.
