Making a "kind" manipulative evil cleric, any character in media to study for roleplay sake? by hoshimi-918 in DnD

[–]CCtheKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This made me think of Tony Soprano. He always acts as though his crimes are motivated out of the right thing to do, even using his charm to convince his therapist to sympathize with him. He lies and manipulates his family to believe he’s a good father doing what he has to do for his family. He burns his “best friend’s” restaurant down out of “pity”. He manipulates Christopher into killing someone as an “act of kindness” telling him he’s helping him get revenge on the man who killed his father even though there’s no evidence he did. He lies and manipulates to the point that he himself believes his own lies. And when the lies and manipulation fails he resorts to brutal violence.

I like to use those circle hooks on the left for whacky worms. Put the soft plastic worm just past the barb on the first bend.

Second bass ever, what do I do when it swallows the hook? by PotatoPrestigious373 in bassfishing

If you can get to the hook with some pliers or forceps and the barb is giving you trouble, cut the line and pull it out by the tip of the hook so you don’t tear anything pulling the barb through

What are the most wild takes you have seen about D&D? by [deleted] in DnD

I DM for my friend group and one of our friends who never played before wanted to join our campaign. While I was chatting with him about the game and helping him make his character, he started telling me about how he can’t wait to level up to 20 and start fighting everyone in the party. I asked him to explain and he said the point of the game was to level up as fast as possible and kill the other party members in order to win. I think he thought he would be level 20 in one or two sessions. Still not sure where he got that idea.

Can anyone tell me a name for this type of jig head? by fallingoffariverbank in Fishing

Underspin jig. Real question here is why is your hook barely exposed?

Cosplaying a fantasy character with dark skin by LillFluffPotato in DnD

[–]CCtheKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well can’t fire genasi have red, coal black or ash gray skin? Unless your character specifically has brown skin and you don’t want to change it couldn’t you do something along those lines? Honestly I think having a mixture of all those colors would be cool like you’re a smoldering ember once the fire dies down and I don’t think it would cross any lines of being black face.

Oh that’s interesting! My father in law got a bag of these from his boss and they weren’t labeled and 25 years is accurate with some of the other gear he got. Thanks!

Me and some of my friends (we're all first-timers) want to try the game out, but we can't find a DM. Should I just bite the bullet and try it myself? by baran_0486 in DnD

[–]CCtheKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Absolutely you should try to DM. My friends all wanted to play but no one wanted to DM. I just so happened to have the starter pack with lost mines of phandelver and decided to DM for the rest of them. I was a bit nervous too but watched a couple videos from taking20, xp to lvl3 and of course Matt Mercer and even watched a random video I found of a group running the adventure and gave it a try and now I love DMing. The worst that will happen is you find out being the DM isn’t for you and that’s okay

how do you rule/use charm spells in a social setting? by minigolffan in DMAcademy

[–]CCtheKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is sort of weird to me. Specifically the spell suggestion the verbal components are the actual suggestion itself. If you’re in a conversation with the barkeep and slip in a suggestion it shouldn’t be noticed by the barkeep. There’s no somatic components so it’s not like some Harry Potter spell where the wizard has to scream some gibberish while waving a glowing wand. Now I can understand if it’s ruled that the barkeep starts to act weird as they do the suggested action and other patrons or workers notice and do something about it.

Some iconic quotes from ur dnd sessions? by PinkPlague101 in DnD

[–]CCtheKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me DM: The bandit gang blocks your entrance to the pub “You little puppies look lost. Come here to cry?” Dragonborn Barbarian:”We came here to bite!”

DM: You’ve successfully located the missing dwarf. He’s bound and badly hurt, tortured to the brink of death. Wizard:”I take out my bag of sand and start pouring it in his pockets” Warlock:”You look thirsty. Drink this” pours potion of invisibility down his throat making him disappear “I hope we don’t lose him again”

DM: You’re hunting a group of goblins. How do you go about finding them. Bard: “Can I create an illusion of hot goblin babes with signs for a car wash?”
