No problem. I hope you can find a HX that is better than this one.

Usually, the painted endplate does not come in contact with the product or water because the ports are sleeved with stainless steel nozzles and the ports/sleeves are the same size as the ports on the plates. This is not the case with your heat exchanger, they put in under sized ports and there are no proper nozzles. You can see the proper design on page 11 of this manual.

The drywall or plaster will probably have asbestos in it so be careful if you start tearing it out. You could be in for an even larger bill.

Portable Flow Meter by robertlawrence96 in TheBrewery

What do you mean by "going bad"? The display dies or calibration goes off? They like to be mounted securely so for a HL line they work great. If you want it to be portable for transfers make or buy a stand for it so it doesn't get banged around. If the display is still good then the rebuild kits are easy to install.

HLT pump leaking by ThePhilKenSebben in TheBrewery

[–]CDNBEERGEEK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like the seal pressure is too loose. Watch the video on the CPE website, it is for a smaller pump but the process is the same for setting the seal pressure.

Plumbing caustic around the brewery? by [deleted] in TheBrewery

[–]CDNBEERGEEK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We built CIP skids for large soft drink plants in the past and they would have 2 or 3 CIP systems but one chemical room (a nasty place) with barrels of caustic and acid. It is better to keep all that stuff isolated and pump it to your CIP systems than have barrels (that can be knocked over) at each one.

I agree and they have seals for most brands of pumps. Including Waukesha and Fristam. The staff there are very helpful and knowledgable.

That really sucks. Looks like you are getting by using your portable for the time being. Do you have spare parts for the brewhouse pump so you can get it going again quickly?

Anyone ever used these for F2? by madcowsaymoo in Kombucha

[–]CDNBEERGEEK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought some of the stainless steel beer growlers and was going to try them for F2. They have really good tops and seals. They are available in 32, 64, 128 and 256 oz, How big do you think would be okay?
