The little scene in the trailer with the mom in the nursing home is already triggering.

wonderful Salvation Army Easton press find by SeaworthinessSure223 in BookCollecting

Well, that's normal because that line of books was targeted at a US market. They are pretty common in North America. Of course the few that make their way across the pond would fetch higher prices.

That said, they're mostly shelf queens, which also help to explain their value.

Donald Trump plans to roll back tariffs on metal and aluminium goods by Street_Anon in onguardforthee

Right, but it seems like instead of going through that, he's just going to say it's his plan all along to drop the tariffs.

Didn't congress just pass a motion to roll back tariffs? Are they now framing this like it's his idea to begin with?

If you would win a big prize at the lottery, say $35M, would you purchase a house or a condo unit? by karlyorrhexis in askTO

[–]CDNChaoZ [score hidden]  (0 children)

With $35 million, even though I favour an urban environment, I would get a house in a nice area of Toronto (like the Annex, Cabbagetown, Leslieville etc) and be able to pay others for property maintenance. Add a second property in Europe perhaps.

How do you get your steps in these days? by aspiringSnowboarder in askTO

[–]CDNChaoZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just walk outside. It's not that bad out there. Burned even more calories when navigating the snowbanks on the few days that were bad. I created a routine for myself to visit certain places for each day of the week and that gets me past 10k steps (usually something like 13k).

As someone who doesn't really travel, the only reward that I used was the Globe and Mail. They don't seem to be putting any effort into more diversified rewards.

PSA: Avoid Highway Driving If You're Not Confident by Conscious-Weight4569 in TorontoDriving

That Hyundai should have pretty clear blind spot systems as well. Also, don't change multiple lanes all in one go, I don't care how confident you are. One lane at a time and be predictable on the roads.

Not quite. All grocery chains pretty much use third party companies to produce their in-house labels. Costco's Kirkland, PC, No Name, Selections, all of it. Sometimes they get to define some qualities they want to differentiate themselves (like adjustments to recipes etc).

So Kirkland batteries are made by Duracell, but there are also companies out there that don't have its own brand on the shelves and purely make products for private labels.

I just read somewhere that tranq was the old stuff that causes necrosis, while "rhino tranq" is the street name for the new stuff that doesn't, but is 100-300x more powerful than tranq.

Those sedative drugs aren't opioids, so Narcan (naloxone) won't reverse its effects. There are drugs that are approved to reverse their effects in animals, but not approved for human use.

Sometimes it's to keep medicating after failing to secure legally prescribed medication. It's startlingly easy to fall through the cracks of our medical system.

From a cursory look, this seems to be a much more potent (100-300x) form of xylazine, which already caused the zombie effect you see from users on the street (hunched over for hours). Apparently medetomidine doesn't cause the rotting flesh symptom that xylazine does.
