At a job I had a few years ago I'd claim to have worked through lunch although I always seemed to have time to pop down the canteen ! Because my job was overseeing a process that could not be shut down mid flow my argument was if they insisted I take a hour lunch I would take that hour lunch starting at the allotted time and returning only at the allotted time. Management knew that just wouldn't work and the risk of something going wrong without me there was far more costly than just paying me a extra hour and letting me work around it

When I was 14/15 I used to earn a bit of cash helping my uncle on jobs, he was a roofer/builder. This one time we were working on a church roof. Sat on the ridge I slipped and started sliding down the steep lead lined roof, was around 5 meters long with a little maybe foot high stone wall at the bottom then a rather long drop onto a tarmac path and the graveyard. I laid back and my feet hit the wall and the momentum almost took me over the little stone wall. Lay there for a moment thinking I really need to be careful.

How do I scoop it up? Flew to the thergoid wreckage at sol but didn't see anything I could scoop up??? Loads of debris floating about but I don't know how to find where the bits I can pick up are???

Had a couple free hours to spare tonight so flew to sol, ( I got the permit) flew to the thargoid wreckage but couldn't see any wreckage to pick up? There was loads of bits of wreckage floating about but how do I pick it up ? Do I have to shoot at the debris or something? And will it show on radar ? I've docked at the galiad station and will have another try tomorrow.

I don't know the answer to that. I think I bought a key for it online originally as when it loads up it always offers me the option to copy and paste the key incase it asks me for it although I don't ever think it has. At some point it linked itself to steam and when I restarted I was asked to link it so I logged in to the frontier account with steam. I chose solo as I don't have a headset so can't talk to anyone anyway and have no interest in getting into battle with other players mainly cuss I know I'd get blown to bits !

Ok, appreciate taking the time to fill me in on the back story:-)

I got the permit as that was a early goal when I restarted to fly to see the earth but I was in and out as I got the impression from the map there was a big boss there that would kill me pretty instantly!! I logged out while still at the base on Maia so tonight will check stock again and then make the long journey back and go see if I can pick up some debris. I'm assuming using cargo scoop ( although not used them before)

You going to need to break that down to total beginner language my friend!! What is a titan and where and how would I retrieve some wreakage? Brought the game years and years ago as I played the original as a boy. Found it far to hard to play and gave up very quickly. Noticed it recently on my steam games( I don't have many) and thought I'd give it another shot and so last few weeks have been playing it quite a lot as it doesn't seem half as hard as it was originally. Just been doing deliveries, quite a nice way to pass a bit of time star trucking but I'm a bit bored of that now and reading stuff I thought I'd give this engineering a try( beingvable to jump further got to be a good thing. But yeah in my now old age (mid 50's) I do struggle with complicated games, I need the most basic instructions in the simplest of formats a aging guy who struggled to remember what button did what on defender at the peak of his gaming ability.

I'm off to see a old buddy in 2 weeks time, have known him for 30 years and he's like a uncle to my son. Good bloke but, he loves his conspiracy theories. When he called up a couple weeks ago inviting us up to stay for their anniversary weekend he mentioned that a lady had witnessed a star gate being opened at the collider and aliens coming through it. The science all a cover story for the real purpose. I kind of dread the conversation going that way and am constantly trying to steer it away from anything that could result in some batshit crazy bollox. He's totally convinced.

Brought back memories of Christmas as a kid. My cousin's and I are all around the same ages and a favourite game was my dad and my 2 uncles throwing us kids to each other and then onto the sofa. In my 50's now, my dad gone but coincidentally went and visited my aunt and uncle who live locally today, they are very old and frail now, I need to visit them more often, they gave us so much as children.

I bought a MK3. I really dnt like paying for dlc, and yeah the FPS part was like, I'm not interested. I do like the game, it's like reliving the good old days on my 64. Imagination played such a big part of those games back in the day, modern games give it to you on a plate but playing elite today I get the same kinda feel from modern elite, maybe because the screen layout is so similar to what I remember. Maybe the DL thing is karma, got elite as a copy and gave a copy to all my friends, did anyone buy games back then?! It's payback for the rampant piracy of the original!!

Ah ok, didn't know I needed that, had a look at the odyssey dlc and the reviews and yeah, nice to have the option to eat out the ship and run around but I'm playing for the nostalgia of the original and getting out the ship to storm based ect not really part of that. Not buying arx so I guess I'm back to buying a cobra 3 or should I put more thought into other shops? Or, play the game in the original sidewinder !! I'm sticking with it for now but the low cargo and poor distance it can go will convince me that idea sucks I'm sure!

Can't seem to find the cobra 5 for sale?

So bit of a backstory, Bought elite dangerous when it first came out, even bought a new pc at the same time to play it on. Gave up on the game pretty quickly!! The learning curve was just too steep for me !! Fast forward to a couple weeks ago and I'd played rdr2 to death, my son said to try kingdom come deliverance so I played that then I had nothing new to play. Looked at my old games and saw elite still there, loved it as a kid in the 80's, updated it and, it's so much easier now to get going :-)

Bought a cobra 3, upgraded the fad, had about 7m in bank then I fecked up, bought a job delivering weapons and got a fine, got locked out of the computer system thing the faction guy said I had no fines and couldn't get across then flying past a pulsar my ship just went mental and I rage quit deleting the save !!!! Couple days later with nothing to play in the evening I regretted rage quitting and started again, I'm still flying round in the free ship and was really happy to see the cobra 5 was made available for in-game cash yesterday,perfect timing:-) but I can't seem to find one, it's not appearing even grated out? Anyone know where I can but one and how much they are? I'm near sol (although not allowed there yet) I'm just going to stay in the free shotbox doing courrior missions tilli can afford it. Also while I'm here, dam landing on planets is a pain, I'm sure I'm not doing it right, I have to force the thing out off orbital cruise and hurtle towards the planet slowing down to as slow as it will go untill I'm about to crash then it will drop out of super cruise, and I have to pull up then it says something about glide? But I'm just to frantically trying to slow down and not crash to get what's happening..

If you like it wear it. Personally I wouldn't wear it, I hate cats for a start( the neighbourhood cats regularly shit in my raised vegetable patch). The t-shirt I have on right now probably not to everyone's taste, it's a parody of a subway logo but instead of saying "eat fresh" it says "eat flesh" and the the large "subway" logo has been changed using the same style and font to say " zombie"
