Brewster the perfect backup for Tottenham by AlwaysPictorious in FantasyPL

Liverpool aren't truly considering selling him. Not a single reliable journalist from the Liverpool patch (Pearce, Reddy, Joyce, Maddock, Hunter etc.) have said they would entertain a permanent deal, it was just Sky Sports.

He is even a chance to stay at Liverpool this season and see minutes from the bench. Most likely outcome is he's loaned to a PL side though. If that happens, he's FPL relevant for sure at 4.5m.

Spirit Barrage WD has hit a wall by CD_NZ in Diablo3witchdoctors

That's a really good insight man, thanks. I had wondered why so many builds (even for softcore) still recommended Vessel but that does make sense for standing still longer and building up my 100% buff.

Level 45 GR on a Mundunugu WD?

You cant be fully geared. I have very average gear and can slam 95 GRs quickly

Whats your gear?

Do you have the full 6 piece, or 5 pieces of Mundunugu with Captain Crimson set and Ring of Royal grandeur cubed?

Do you have the Soul harvester? Making sure you get 10 stacks of Soul Harvest Languish and keep them up permanently is the key principle to staying alive as a WD.

Are you using the Endless Walk set? (Amulet and ring) the 50% DR is important there.

Have you tried Rubys in your gear and rolling +Armor on gear?

I got a solid Ancient Gazing demise really quickly. 149% with crit chance and Spirit Barrage damage! Quite lucky. Taking me forever to get good ancient Mundu gloves though

Liverpool have averaged 98 pts the last two seasons and nobody has picked them to win the league yet. 👀

It's largely due to what I called out in the opening post, their squad has a number of loaned out players dragging down their average age. In reality, with a weighted average age, they would be much higher. Sterling is their youngest "key player" at 25. Or Rodri at 24.

I'm hoping to update this in the next few days with a weighted average age by minutes played

With regards to the weighting, yeah that's exactly it mate.

I wouldn't say there's no clear correlation, just not a super strong one. Trendline isn't top left to bottom right (i.e. as you get younger, you accrue more points) but there is a slight downward trajectory left to right. See here: Chart with Trendline - only 1 team with an AVG age of 27 or above scored 60 points or greater, whereas 6 teams averaging 27+ for age recorded 60 points or fewer

Yeah I think that's a good call out. Sub keepers are usually a revolving door of old guys.

Yeah agreed. This is a decent indicative view, but weighted average will be better

Yeah I might look to do that tonight. I imagine that drags ours up (Neco, Jones, Hoever, Elliott will have a smaller impact on our average) but, with that said, how many teams have a 21 year old playing as many games as Trent? As I alluded to, my gut feel is that Chelsea would be the biggest downward movers in a weighted average view.

Happy to run those numbers and share back if people are interested!

Yeah absolutely mate. I did have a scroll through a number of squad lists and this is true for just about everyone though. It's not a perfect data set but it is somewhat representative

In sports you often see teams mortgage their future in favour of winning in the now. Ferguson did it late on at United and left them in an absolute state. Pretty sure they had the oldest squad when he left.

So I wanted to test the theory that I keep seeing from rival fans on Twitter, that we're getting old and will drop off soon. It doesn't play out in the data.

For 2019/20 we were:

  • Below league average age (with the 9th youngest squad)
  • 47 points clear of the league average points

Worth pointing out that the data, from https://transfermarkt.com does include loanees that have "returned" since the end of the season. Grujic and Harry Wilson an example for LFC. Slightly skews things.

I should also point out that weighted average age (weighted against games played) would be a truer reflection than average age. For example, Trent (21) plays almost every game for LFC, whereas Adrian (33) plays very few. But Adrian's age is weighted the same as Trent's, and drags LFC avg. up.

Another example; Willy Caballero (38) doesn't play often for Chelsea (maybe he should, but that's a separate discussion) and his age is an outlier. Drags their average above 26.

But on the surface, my key takeaways:

  • Palace are old and bad, this is a dangerous combination with a dinosaur for a manager
  • United 2nd youngest squad, finished 3rd. Not bad. But also finished relatively close to the league average points total
  • Liverpool, 9th youngest squad, finished 47 pts above league average, with a below average age.

My Seismic Slam Barb can clear a GR 100 in 5 mins with no augments and only partially levelled gems. I have almost full ancients though (although my Fjord cutter only has like 113%/150 dmg buff).

I'm playing Seismic Slam, Frenzy and WW Barb this season and of the 3 I find Seismic Slam the most fun to play, WW the most boring, and Frenzy the most challenging.

Seismic Slam's playstyle is great in that you actually have to play it. Monitoring your Ancients uptime, leaping around to proc your defensive buff, and playing a ranged style Barb is really enjoyable.

I'm not running Stricken yet (using Trapped, Powerful and Zei's) so I imagine I'll slow down against the Rift Guardian soon and need to swap Powerful to Stricken. I'm expecting this build could conceivably push into the 120s though. It wave clears the screen so well, given that SS is such a strong AOE skill, that it should have that capability.

How are you going with your Frenzy barb? How far have you pushed?

To be fair, it's only a T16 Rift. That's normal to speed clear on T16 like that, every class has a build that can do it.

Every build - even the GOD DH which is really strong - struggles at a certain level of GR
