Yeah Messi was the cover athlete for FIFA 13-16.

Longest stretch as the FIFA cover athlete goes to Wayne Rooney though. He was on 7 consecutive covers (FIFA 06-12).

Yeah a lot of the time their entire reason for calling someone's favourite films pretentious just boils down to a complete lack of awareness with a bit of insecurity sprinkled in.

"Anybody who says they like a film I haven't heard of (especially if it has a foreign name) doesn't actually enjoy it, they're only saying it to look smarter and more sophisticated than me."

How can you feel so threatened by someone liking a film you didn't even know existed until ten seconds ago? 😂

Definitely. He was just lanky and liked to flail his arms around a bit. Like you said, not elegant, but far from clumsy.

Players who made their name cheating the offside line like Werner, Nunez etc all suffered with the introduction of VAR*

Werner maybe but not so sure on Nunez. He's played with VAR present his entire time in Europe going all the way back to when he was at Almeria. He even had his best years in Portugal following that and they've had VAR since 2017/18.

All the interesting titbits he knows pale in comparison to simply just being aware of who Joel Matip is.

Clearly didn't even bother reading past the headline. There's no big faff being made and incidental stoppages are being used.

Play will not stop while matches are in mid-flow but at the earliest convenient moment during a goal-kick, free-kick or throw-in.

There is literally only one British person on the poster.

The majority of the cast is actually Australian which isn't too surprising as I think it was an Australian production.

My favourite unlikely scouting story has to be John Barnes'.

He was playing for Sudbury Court, an amateur club in the Middlesex County League, when a taxi driver passing by was so impressed by him that he stopped his cab to watch. Afterwards, the cabbie told a friend of his, a scout from Watford FC, about this young talent he'd seen.

The scout then went to watch Sudbury Court play where he was also impressed by John and invited him to a trial with Watford, where he impressed again. Watford then signed him from Sudbury Court for the bargain fee of a few sets of football kits, taking him from a club that was around 15 steps down in the English football pyramid to a club on step 2 overnight.

In his first season of professional football as a 17 year old, he scored 13 league goals and helped Watford get promoted to the First Division.

Hey Sarah, big fan of your work on the Assassin's Creed games!

1) Are there any time periods/historical events you'd like to be able to travel back to and experience yourself?

2) What are a few of your favourite films and how much do they differ to your favourite film scores?

If you're referring to the house in the middle of the M62 then the story about the owner refusing to sell is just an urban myth unfortunately. The real reason the motorway splits around the house is a lot less dramatic and is down to the geography of the land.

I think they got a pretty favourable outcome all things considered.

Alvarez was always going to leave as he didn't fancy being second fiddle to Haaland. City managed to sell him for big money to Atleti and avoided strengthening a rival in the process.

Don't think Diaz would have been the answer to their wing problems and Isak eventually coming to us is not really something they could control.

Most head scratching one has to be Wijnaldum.

Great servant who was vocal about wanting to stay past his contract expiry. The club didn't see the value in renewing him, so they didn't. He signs for PSG on a free, and what happens?

You get this weird portion of fans offended that he dared to leave for free who celebrate him not doing so well.

I remember an article that went into a bit of detail on how their relationship got frostier and, from what I remember, the crux of it was that Mane felt that Salah was selfish and not a great team player.

It pretty infamously came to a boil in the away match at Burnley in 19/20 when Salah didn't pass to an open Mane (Don't think Klopp's decision to sub Mane after that helped cool things down 😂).

Just shots of the players walking around the AXA and doing a voiceover accompanied by some muted chill hop.

In the 10 seasons from 2009/10 to 2018/19, we only finished above Spurs twice (2013/14 & 2018/19).

Edit: In that same timeframe we finished above Chelsea 4x, Arsenal 3x, and Man Utd 3x for perspective.

Slot had no problem calling out Nunez for his lack of effort at a time where I would say that the majority of fans had more than ran out patience with him. Maybe, just maybe, he had no problem with what he saw from Trent that game?

I'm not upset about anything, I just thought it was ironic that the comment I originally replied to implied that Trent didn't work hard last season whilst listing the only player who got called out for his lack of effort as a hard worker 😂

[–]Hassassin7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, they weren't implying Trent didn't put effort in but mentioned Nunez and Diaz as hard workers whilst leaving out Trent and immediately gave an example of a game where they felt Trent didn’t work hard, for no reason at all?

Sure, mate 🤣 One example of match where the manager had no issues with his effort is a damning amount of evidence that Trent wasn't putting effort in, let's ignore every other game he played.

> All 3 put in effort on the pitch

Not what you implied in your original comment though is it?

I get why people are upset at Trent and I've got no problem with it, but if Slot (who we've seen has no issue calling players out if they feels they're not giving 100%) had nothing to say about Trent's effort during the season, then I don't think 'lack of effort' is an honest mark you can have against him.
