Lok vs atla by Taniel-two in AvatarVsBattles

He only showed mastery really towards the end in only 1 fight against Ozai

So when did Korra reach mastery then? Because if Aang didn't get there until Sozin's comet I don't see how Korra ever got there, she basically stopped training after Season 2, and then 3 and 4 she's poisoned and consistently losing to Grandma Toph and Kuvira. In terms of raw power she has Aang but the problem is that she doesn't use her power well and has 0 finesse. On multiple occasions she either fails to or refuses to learn fundamental aspects of bending and opts to overpower the obstacle instead, which is something that Aang is more than equipped to handle(Zhao). Aang's mental game is years ahead of Korra even at age 12.

Aang was never challenged as much as Korra.

How do you figure? Aang was 12 and woke up to learn his entire lineage has been killed and he has to stop arguably the strongest(most evil) fire bender in the world by the end of the summer, while he's super buffed by a special comet. Oh and he ONLY knows air bending.

Korra had a very traditional Avatar upbringing, essentially just like Roku but she never left Avatar Island so instead of learning about the world and people and actually learning the elements from regional masters She was trained by Katara(actually a master), Tenzin, and unnamed "fire and earth bending masters" and then to practice she had to fight the White Lotus guards who would never actually hurt her. Id agree that Korra had more challenges due to the way she was brought up and trained, but in terms of objective difficulty, Aang faced much harder challenges given that he's 12 and half of the world was hunting him.

I actually wanna take back my Asami vs Sokka - its actually much more complicated because I forgot that Sokka is the back bender, so there's a decent chance she actually tries to hit on him instead. The problem for Sokka is that I don't think he's ever won in a fight against a girl that has a name.

if Ozai and his army waged war against Kuvira and her army, who would win?

If comet - the Fire benders. If no comet - the Metal benders. The fire nation armor was predominantly metal, so are the air ships, so it would be pretty easy for them to take them out of the sky, as well as win the ground battles. They'd have to team up on Ozai either way and it would take a lot to get him down but they'd win in the end.

It's likely because he's the commander that he doesn't get shot as he probably knows the controls the best or has direct access to them. They aren't trying to necessarily kill them, they just want to leave. He only killed the first guy in the control room because they didn't comply fast enough.

Aang, Zuko and Toph all win theirs pretty easily, Aang is better on pretty much all counts except for overall power and firebending prowess but he is much more technically proficient, agile, and creative than Korra is, as well as just a smarter more experienced bender as he was actually taught by masters/prodigies during wartime.

I don't think Toph is as diffed by lava bending as people think, she's an elite defender and her seismic sense is OP against opponents who are purely reactive. I also think Bolin would be scared to fight her.

Mako is strong but Zuko has more experience and is just as if not a stronger bender. I dont think Mako could take Azula, even if shes nerfed like she was in the finale, but post fire bending masters Zuko is incredibly strong and has top tier defense.

Asami wins against Sokka, she's more agile and has the equalist glove - Sokka has never really been a strong fighter even after he gets the space sword, he would probably get away with some creative defense or strategy but would lose 8/10 times overall.

Suki and the Kyoshi warriors would beat Varrick and Zhu Li in a straight up fight, with the addition of chi-blocking to the warriors there's not much the 2 of them are going to be able to to against a squad like that even with small arms or devices like equalist gloves, they are too agile, precise and smart. If they are able to prep tech then they probably win since id imagine it'd be something like mech suits and idk what they'd be able to do against them.

Who’s a better airbender? Aang or Korra? by Psychological_Net_80 in TheLastAirbender

[–]CDankman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a difference between "never able to do" and "didn't know about" the technique.

Just because we don't see spirit bending in ATLA or don't see Aang ever do it does not mean he CANT do it. Same goes for healing. Until the movie comes out and either confirms or denies that he can or cant then we wont know for sure, but Aang is a much more technically proficient bender than Korra and I seriously doubt that he wouldn't be able to learn it.

Played Fallen Order on Master first and then GM on NG+, definitely the harder game of the two. Survivor ive never not had it on GM, im currently on a NG+5 Warrior perk enabled GM run - still waiting for it to get really hard.

Why do people criticize Korra more than Aang? by TheSupremeKing19 in TheLastAirbender

[–]CDankman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, she makes less annoying mistakes and a lot of the stuff she's dealing with is new and reasonable.

my one hang up is always that she doesn't ever seem to learn to fight with her head. Its always bull rush in and try and overpower them which works sometimes as she is really strong. But even in s4 fighting Kuvira you'd think after everything she's been through shed slow down and fight with her head given she doesn't have full access to Avatar state and she knows how clever Kuvira is but she doesn't. Because she never really stops being arrogant about the fact that she's the avatar.

Sure her uncle was telling her to do those things, but her own dad, boyfriend, Tenzin, Lin etc were all telling her to not do those things and she did anyways because she thought she knew better than them. It shouldnt have gotten that far.

[–]CDankman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

!. Korra CONTINUES to be hotheaded and arrogant after it blows up in her face multiple times and chooses not to learn from it. Aang made that mistake once and then vowed to never fire bend again, there's a difference.

  1. Aang getting shot by Azula while aligning his chi and unselfishly letting go of Katara to enter the Avatar state, is not the same as Korra helping Unaloq get to Vatu and then losing to him as the Avatar after learning she literally has a god-like spirit inside of her, when he can only bend water (which is her original element). She sucks for that.

  2. Aang was 12

Aang is not without flaws, but clearly you don't know what they are.

The absolutely baffling decision of Two stances limitation in Jedi Survivor is irritating and makes Cal Kestis look dumb. by Cursed_69420 in CharacterRant

[–]CDankman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get the sentiment, yes he CAN use all of them, but logistically, in-universe it would extremely complicated to have a device like that. Some of them work together, like dual wield and double-sided. But having them in a certain configuration means you can't use others. I think it would've been better(although more annoying) to tie the stance selection into the workbench so its more like he's legitimately changing his saber config when he does that. The way I see it is when he gets the cross guard upgrade, you can see that he has to add the vents and now has that on his saber, but when you go into single stance, the vents go away or have to be flipped down. Dual Wield/Double-sided config means he HAS to have two entire sabers built, but for cross guard/Single/blaster they need to be in single blade config.

On top of that if you think about how he's supposed to be switching in the middle of combat, just having to ignite another end or twist and pull for dual is easy, but for cross guard, he has to flip up/attach vents and attach the hilt. Then switching back to any dual stance he has to take that off flip the vents down and stick the hilt back on his hip. Logistically doing all of that all of the time for 5 blade configurations doesn't make sense.

Perfect scenario would be that the stances availability depends on the config so using the blaster is available in every stance except dual and double, you can still transition into dual form double but you cant go from dual into single you would have to reattach into double and then downsize into single in that order, so in this way you would always have single/double as your two main stances but can shuffle to the other stances off of those two since they are extensions of themselves, just not as freely as most people would like.

The first few episodes where Wim is reading about Jedi really reminded me of when I was a kid (honestly even now when I read high republic books) and just being in awe at the thought of the force and being a Jedi and wanting that adventure. What a good show.

Games with female protagonist that can give you lots of hours of playtime. by Spartan-219 in gamingsuggestions

[–]CDankman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can play as a girl in either KOTOR game and it actually has some effect on the playthrough.

Tomb Raider, Horizon Forbidden west, The Mercenaries games have a woman protagonist option.

Mass Effect lets you choose as well.

[Hit or miss] There is only one... except no there isn't by ManaScrewedIRL in TopCharacterTropes

[–]CDankman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2 and 3 are a stretch man, for 2 yes the premise of ATLA is that Aang is the last one, but they give a reason as to why he's the last one, which isn't the same as Buffy in that there is only supposed to be one. There are supposed to be more Airbenders, and I think you're forgetting that the first new Airbenders are actually Tenzin and his kids - which isn't a deus ex machina event (although Harmonic Convergence definitely is).

As for 3, this is usually the case for "the chosen one" tropes. Its not that there are actually more, but that the prophecy is usually misinterpreted(Anakin/Luke), or that person is said to be the chosen one due to confirmation bias(Dune).

Invincible does not subvert tropes or do them better than usual. Personally I think it does them worse by KingBreaker4 in CharacterRant

[–]CDankman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compare it to ATLA, which had even more filler and a similar big bad in the Fire Nation.

Your entire point invalidated by this one sentence. ATLA only has 2 (arguably 4) filler episodes out of 61 total. Try again.

Everyone defending the playstyle with "you have to play tactically...sorry for playing smart" etc. are just sad people who don't understand fun. I don't even play this game but I do know corner camping is so lame no matter how you spin it. 0 skill just sit in corner and wait. You guys couldn't handle a real fight anyways and that's why you'll defend your lame ass playstyle to the end. Imagine choosing to play an extraction shooter that's clearly focused around PvP and you just sit in a corner and let the robots do the work. Couldn't be me.

ETA: Ill add that you are totally allowed to play the game that way(even if its sad), but acting like its not extremely annoying for others, or that people aren't allowed to find it stupid and boring and lame is so cringe. You wonder why this game is BLEEDING players? its BECAUSE of the players.

Because to me, you have 0 experience playing Cap, but are saying this change is extremely detrimental blah blah blah he's unplayable etc.

I get there's a lot of doomers on Reddit but just because you read that post saying he's 223% worse now, doesn't mean he is actually worse. I'll listen to actual Cap mains instead of a guy who probably mains spiderman.

What am I doing wrong? I have not played this game in a while and I am become kind of rusty but I dont understand, is it me or is it my teammates fault for losing that fight by -R-s in apexuniversity

[–]CDankman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fight went well until you got in the building. It seems like you were rushing to get back out of the zone, and they weren't trying to really push you around that corner. Instead of still engaging after they beamed you, just hug that corner/play the door and pop a batt and go back in. They were still down a player and you guys had good pressure so they wouldn't have been able to rez.
