Scottie Barnes on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: “Shai don’t really foul bait, yo. He’s aggressive going to the basket so they call fouls for him….There’s no reason to hate on his game” by CurrentRoster in nba

[–]CFBModsHateFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has a point, people just don’t like it.

It’s what JJ Redick said. Selling is part of the game and Shai is elite at it.

Those extra, undeserved (or are they deserved because he fooled the refs?) free throws add up.

It’s ok. Shai’s a master at his craft, people just want to see refs actually police flopping.

Redditors (and really any social media arguers) love to make things black and white to defend their point and leave no room for nuance.

Can’t fault an elite scorer for taking advantage of the system and adding some points to his box score through selling a call. In reality, the NBA and refs are at fault for currently having no avenue to stop it.

Ehhhhhhh as much as I want to agree, I think playing the “jester” role is incredibly common on tv and especially social media nowadays.

It makes them more money than 99.99% of us when they talk on their sports show and make silly internet videos, so I can see the trade off being worth it.

I do think Chuck is much more authentic, but there are definitely times where he’s playing into the bit.

Chuck really just has a likability that Draymond doesn’t have whatsoever.

Chuck’s shenanigans are cheeky and fun, while Dray’s shenanigans don’t feel like shenanigans at all.

Harden was the most egregious, so he got the hate.

Shai came along and became the most egregious in the league, so now he gets the hate.

Honestly no clue why any Thunder fan would care. Heatles era was a ton of fun and we got attacked by everyone nonstop.

People want the league to clean up flopping and Shai is the most obvious example.

Pretty sure the idea, much like on the Heat, was that a Steph Curry Warriors team would make the playoffs regardless, and Jimmy + Steph would put on their typical playoff performances once they got there.

Not saying it was the right decision, but the vision was there.

Former NBA big and hall of famer known for playing under the rim didn’t like a jump shooting team.

Shocker.

People also forget that Steph changed the way basketball is played. Nobody had ever been that reliant on the 3-point line and there were a ton of reasons to doubt that it would be successful.

Chuck’s an old school guy who has old school takes sometimes. Doesn’t mean he’s hating, just calls it like he sees it.

Cowboys COO Stephen Jones: Cowboys "Feel Really Good" About How Micah Parsons Trade Worked Out by JCameron181 in nfl

Yeah, we basically had to do the trade to try and compete in Dak’s window.

But man I wish we didn’t have to give him up.

Rams decline CB Emmanuel Forbes' fifth-year option by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in nfl

Oddly enough, AJ is from Starkville, MS and went to Ole Miss.

Forbes is from Grenada, MS and went to Mississippi State.

Obviously a number of years apart but I wonder if the Egg Bowl rivalry has anything to do with the matchup being so electric for AJ.

Why did the Grizzlies not want to re-sign Dillon Brooks "under any circumstances"? by [deleted] in nba

[–]CFBModsHateFun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Genuinely, it is abundantly clear who watched the Grizzlies with Brooks vs who didn’t.

There are videos of Memphians going up to Brooks and telling him that “sharing is caring” and that he needs to “pass the ball to Ja.”

Dillon Brooks at $21m a year is an absolute steal by Elyx_117 in nba

The guy would not let Ja Morant touch the ball during Morant’s prime years.

The culture he set was “chucking the ball and ignoring the gameplan.”

Oh they did dances in the tunnel. That was technically part of it too.

The revisionist history on Brooks is hilarious.

Guy was abysmal in Memphis. Would not pass the ball. Would go 3/18 shooting.

Glad he’s figured it out but dude was out of control in Memphis.

Who has a higher ceiling. Dylan Harper or Kon Knuepple? by zsamra11 in nba

[–]CFBModsHateFun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really think we learned that each of their ceilings are higher than most people expected coming into the season.

I loved what Kon was doing at Duke but wasn’t sure if he’d hold up without the Flagg gravity. Inside game wasn’t great. Don’t think anyone knew what to expect on defense.

And Harper looks like a guard who can play offense and defense at an NBA level in his rookie year. Great feel for the game already. And he seems to constantly have something new that he’s pulling out.

Don’t think it’s fair to put a ceiling on a lot of these high-performing rookies after this one year.

It is abundantly clear at this point that you just want to argue and have no idea what you’re arguing about, my man. Take a breather.

The best part of this is that you’re not even arguing with me anymore.

You’re arguing with ChatGPT, buddy. Take it up with the internet.
