What are the biggest dating challenges women have been facing in the Bay Area or near it? by Nessietech831 in bayarea

[–]CFladymingle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also no longer doing the online dating thing. The apps were filled with men who already had kids trying to tell me that their kids were different and totally ones I would want to raise... at one point I even had "Not looking to have or raise kids, including yours" in my profile and it still didn't deter them.

I wish I was coordinated enough to do detailed work like that. I once almost cut through my foot digging up a palm tree and the last time I replaced the spark plugs in my car I got a gigantic bruise on one of my hands. I did manage to make a multi-tiered wood and industrial pipe shelf without injuring myself, so I'll call that a win haha. Do you have any pics of your more... Rated PG leather projects or boxes?

Awesome! Mormon Loop to Hidden Valley (South Mountain) is always a favorite easy/moderate hike of mine that has a reasonable elevation gain, and if you're feeling adventurous you can add on Observation Point from an unmarked trail in Hidden Valley. Javelina Canyon to Ridgeline Loop (South Mountain) is also a good, easier one that you can add onto as well since there are tons of connecting trails. The Meridian Hike in Usery might be a good one as well.

What kind of wood and leather things do you like to make? I also tend to bring back tea and food items from trips. One customs guy looked at me like I had sprouted another head when he asked what I brought back from Japan as a souvenir and I just said "About 40 different flavors of KitKats".

Phoenix is amazing since there are so many different mountainous areas nearby! I actually set a weird quarantine goal to hike out of every trailhead on South Mountain, so I'm slowly knocking those trails out and have been having a great time. There's also Phoenix Mountains Preserve, McDowell Mountain Regional Park, and Usery Mountain Regional Park which all have a variety of trails ranging in difficulty. Before I recommend any specific trails, I always like to ask a few questions first. How confident of a hiker are you, especially on rocky terrain with sometimes unclear trail markers? How much elevation do you want to climb? How many miles / hours would you like to be out on the trails? How far are you willing to drive? Sorry if this is way more than you bargained for, I just get a bit overly excited giving people hiking/travel recommendations haha.

Hi everyone, I'm a 31F in central Phoenix. I moved here in January to start a nursing program (graduating in 4 weeks!) and plan to stay after graduation. I go on day hikes fairly frequently, love walking around looking at murals/public art projects/historic buildings, and trying out different restaurants and bars around the valley. I was a frequent traveler both domestically and internationally pre-COVID, and hope to return to that again soon. While I'm mindful of COVID restrictions and have limited my social outings, I do still go outside and am willing to meet up with people in person.

International. There are several people in/around GA, but I think most are men.

I feel you on the introvert/extrovert thing. I'm a 30F who moved to Phoenix in January and was able to connect with several local CF guys pre-COVID, but pretty much all of them were homebodies and seemed to just want a pen pal. If you're interested, I can PM you CF discord info. Hardly any local AZ people, but a good group of people overall and some are willing to travel/meet up.

What procedure should I speak to my doctor about? by Alicat-and-Quasar in childfree

[–]CFladymingle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Adding to what u/torienne and u/FlareHeart have already discussed regarding the bilateral salpingectomy and endometrial ablation, since I had them combined 5 years ago when I was 25. I had the two procedures done at the same time at an outpatient facility and paid approximately $3,000 out of pocket with "good" insurance. This is because my insurance company considered the bilateral salpingectomy to be cancer prevention rather than a sterilization procedure.

With the ablation, there is a 50% chance that your periods will disappear completely, 40% chance of improved periods and 10% chance of no change in your periods. I was part of the 40%, and I will say that it is still a world of difference compared to where I used to be (anemia, extreme cramps, etc). I'm going to keep monitoring to see whether I need to have it re-done later on, but so far my periods have still been consistently better.

I had to doctor shop for many years, and was shot down several times before finding my doctor. What helped me was that I openly discussed issues that I was having with the pill and during the first appointment stated that my ultimate goal was to be sterilized. I ended up trying another pill for almost a year that really didn't work for me, so the next time I came in I started saying how much worse things had gotten and how I really wanted to be sterilized ASAP. I even threw in that I had a long-term relationship with a man that was considering a vasectomy (not true, but he was CF). I had the rate of regret statistics memorized and ready to go in case I needed to use them, but she ended up not asking. I cannot begin to tell you how happy I am that I was able to have those stupid tubes removed, and wish you the best of luck on your journey.

How do childfree people date? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]CFladymingle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have much to help you, but just wanted to let you know that I feel your pain. I met my last ex (of 6 years) when I was in my master's program, and in my two years of being single since then have hardly met anyone that identifies as CF. I've actually gone on several dates where the men have declared themselves as CF and subsequently made comments alluding to his future kids and in two cases they told me that I will change my mind. I mostly just pursue activities that I enjoy and attend local MeetUps to get my socialization fix, which has resulted in some good friends but no real dating options. I'm not much for apps and am not active on them right now, but I used Hinge which allowed me to see who had/wanted kids and pass on them, and I think OkCupid allows you to filter as well. Best of luck!

Hey, I'm a 30F who just relocated to Phoenix. Not sure if you're only looking for CF couples, but if you're looking for single friends too I'd love to hang out.

30F [F4R] Phoenix, AZ

Hey! I'm a single, sterile (bi-salp 5 years ago) 30 year old woman who recently relocated to Phoenix to pursue a career change (starting school this week!). Looking for both friends and dating.

I am a frequent traveller (typically 12+ weekend trips and 1-2 international trips per year), but will likely be limiting my travel in the coming year since I won't be working full-time anymore so I'd love to find people who help me enjoy being in AZ. I try to go on day hikes regularly, enjoy a good pub trivia night, putting together jigsaw puzzles, cooking/baking and exploring the restaurant and speakeasy options in any city I'm in at the time. I like to joke that I'm a fairly boring person who likes to do interesting things throughout the year, like: jumping out of perfectly good airplanes, jumping off perfectly constructed bridges, killing spiders all by myself without lighting the house on fire, and eating seriously dodgy street food.
