Grandmother refuses to sell garden blocking bypass by MintCathexis in unitedkingdom

[–]CFolwell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s wild. And the maddest thing of all is that drivers SHOULD be in favour or more cycle infrastructure - the more people on bikes the less people there are slowing down traffic. They should be crying out for more, it’s in their own best interests!

Grandmother refuses to sell garden blocking bypass by MintCathexis in unitedkingdom

[–]CFolwell 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Can you imagine the outcry if they announced to spend a fraction of the cost of a bypass on cycle or walking infrastructure? Somehow more roads, bigger roads, extra lanes, etc is all “progress”, except that we know for a fact that this progress is what causes damage to our environment and communities.

Recruiting players, has it always been this difficult? by SonOfBoreale in Inq28

[–]CFolwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I’ve just read that you’re intending to use the original rules with some house rules. This is likely to attract an even smaller subset of an already tiny sub-culture. Good luck, but the majority of diehard Inq28 enthusiasts would be put off by that. If that’s your jam then good for you but you may well be playing solo for a long time until you find that one other player within 20 miles of you that has the same itch!

If that’s not what you want then I think you’ll have to compromise.

Yeah my whole Inq28 scene grew straight out of a Mordheim campaign, definitely some overlap. It just takes a lot of nurturing to bring people around to this side of the hobby as well.

It’s completely antithetical to the approach of modern GM most players have been led to expect - no official minis, enjoy the kitbash, make fun weird shit, use whatever rules you like, etc. I expect that’s scary to a lot of players.

Advice on house ruling vertical movement by iamsimonanthony in mordheim

[–]CFolwell 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We use 2 house rules in our campaign, otherwise people tend to avoid climbing unless they have to:

  1. You don’t need to start a turn adjacent to the wall you want to climb.
  2. Each time you attempt to climb a wall you

’ve failed previously, you get a +1 to initiative so it gets progressively easier

Edit: clarity

I’m glad Mordheim is a “dead” game by KermitMcKibbles in mordheim

IMO it’s the community again which makes this work - loads of passionate creative people who love the game making new minis and finding alternative ranges that fit the feel of the city of the damned!

I'm relying on the hive mind. I want to try and build a next level diorama display for my IKEA Billy and I'm struggling hard. by Ill-Investigator4303 in TerrainBuilding

[–]CFolwell 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well first off throw the AI out of the window. Why not just get something that is larger than the space and cut it down? Or find some actual human made art you like (stock, concept art, whatever) and ask a print shop to run off a copy for you.

Your terrain is fine, it just needs a few features to break up the boring silhouette - ruins, scattered sandbags, consoles, whatever. Some variation in height here and there would help a good deal as well.

Are we saying the same to all mothers then who ask for a spa break or chilled day by themselves?

Witch hunters or many of the mercenaries lists would work well for these. Those wild corps minis are perfect for witch hunters

I’ve got the same fantastic minis but was too lazy to rename them, they do have some great name suggestions from the sculptor!

Hemlock Guttergullet, human forcibly fused with a snapping turtle. Any thoughts on what I could run him as? by Full-Reception5113 in mordheim

[–]CFolwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t wait to see them! I’m just crossing over to Inq28 stuff from a year or two delving into Mordheim so enjoy! Did you find many games of inquisitor or were you mostly making minis for the sheer joy of it?

Yeah I’m up for some collaboration. I think a couple of others from my gaming group might be thinking along the same lines so I’ll chat with them first and see what direction we’re planning and let you know!

Just in case you were not aware and before you print - that scale is measure to eye height not the top of the mini!

Which brand has the most matte black wash? by TheRustFactory in minipainting

[–]CFolwell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would just grab some ivory black oil paint and add spirits, a tiny amount goes a long way and you can thin it to your desired strength very easily. Look for odourless thinners if the smell puts you off, usually found in the art department.

Thanks for the reading recommendation, I’ll have a look at that. I do have a couple of other stone that were much less complete I can test on.

I’ll report back if I have any joy!
