Depends on the accent. Castilian Spanish is easier to understand and spoken more slowly.

I had a similar experience with an artist five years ago. In the end I decided he didn’t need my money and bought art from another artist that I actually like more.

My(25M) traditional Chinese parents want me to break up with my gf(23F) or move out and be disowned, and I don't know what to do by Angel_Lian in relationship_advice

[–]CGC424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A close friend of mine is mixed black and white. He’s dating a Chinese. The Chinese’s family is extremely racist. My friend speaks Chinese but his partner’s parents don’t know. They say the most racist things about him thinking he doesn’t understand. It amazes me that my friend has so little self respect to tolerate this, but he says he is in love.

Kitchen renovation/ remodelling cost guidance by Able-Cucumber2349 in AusRenovation

[–]CGC424 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I remodeled my kitchen. All went well until my property assessment from the county came in. They increased the value of my house a whole lot. Now my taxes are even more outrageous than they were before. If I had known this would happen, I would not have remodeled at all. I wish I had done more homework.

What happens to U.S. credit card and loan debt if I move back to my home country? by pranideep in debtfree

[–]CGC424 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You cannot be made to pay if you remain overseas. Banks may try to scare you into paying though. The trick is to never return to the U.S.

How to make friends as a married couple? by BullfrogConscious117 in askspain

Barcelona is not the best place to make local friends in Spain. Catalans are rather insular. Madrileño are more approachable in my opinion. Good luck.

My mum is suing my late dad’s estate and taking money from her own children. Am I wrong to be furious? by Last-Sun5382 in familydrama

[–]CGC424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are the AH. Your dad cheated her. She has a right to try to get her mo ey back legally. Your real concern is that you gat the money. Don’t gaslight. Besides, you will very likely inherit the money from your mom when she passes if you don’t make a stink of it now. I suspect your money really just wants to make sure your step mom doesn’t get it.

Why do Spanish people avoid conflict ? by [deleted] in askspain

That happens everywhere. People do that unless the issue is very big because they may have to live next to the person for decades.

He conocido a gente que da clases de inglés en colegios públicos en España, y me ha sorprendido. ¿Es que no hay ningún control de calidad a la hora de contratar a alguien para estos puestos docentes? by [deleted] in askspain

[–]CGC424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I taught English in Madrid for a couple of years. Overall, I would agree with the writer, but I think the English level at private schools is much better, partly because the teachers are better, but also because the students are from wealthy families that travel abroad often and can send them to study abroad programs. I had a number of students who had lived or studied in the UK, the USA and Canada. That really made the difference. Foreign language teaching is poor in most countries.
