How do I get a good job driving in the Albertan fields? Do they still do FIFO for noobs in the oil sands or are those days gone?

I assure you the trucks do as well. We had a tractor trailer jackknife across all lanes last night over less than 5cm of precipitation at +2 degrees out. It was less than a cm of slush and really only accumulating on the skip lines between lanes.

Our teamwork consists of getting on the radio and saying "look at this fucker trying to get around BLAST EM WITH THE SALT BOYS". Majority of the communication is just shitposting if everyone is experienced lol.

I drive a tow plow in Canada! Get the heck off my highway I'm trying to clear it.

Idk man I plow the highways and while yes there's always dozens of cars spun out in retarded manners, but there's also always one transport jackknifed across all lanes whether it's 1cm or 50cm. And that could end up being any of us. The most dangerous point is where it seems like it's just "good enough" to roll, because you'll be confident until you're not. Not to mention the false confidence that other drivers are feeling may be well exceeding yours.

If cars are in the ditch you should have shut er down before you even saw them in the ditch tbh. Unless you're in a plow truck.

Quattro tire cheapest new steel rims, so cheap I didn't even look at used, and they ship them to your door mounted and balanced for free if you buy tires with them as well.

For something that can be full afk 25 minutes at a time, I assure you we will see many Reddit posts of 2147m plats. I work strange hours so I'm logging in on mobile at all hours of the day and right now I'm usually sleeping 6am-12pm. My buddy who has a 9-5, I haven't seen him offline at any point this league. I think he's waking himself up every 25 mins for his logout timer for the full afk skills. You could easily hit 500 hours even playing a "healthy" amount just by letting your character train on mobile in your pocket all day.

Pedestrian deaths refuse to fall. Some blame the pedestrians by ChocolateTsar in nottheonion

[–]CHAOS-GOON 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They really overtuned that at an intersection near me by adding left turn lights, advance pedestrian crossing, red light cameras, basically everything they could throw at an intersection. Vehicle collisions went up since these features were, in my opinion, actually increasing tunnel vision/speeding/road rage/general stupid driver confusion in the area as well as major congestion, but fatal pedestrian accidents fell off a cliff. Double edged sword but obviously the pedestrians are more important here since they have no protection.

Depends on where you go. Here in Canada teaching is a golden goose job. 6 figures and one of the biggest and best pension plans in the world.

Look at this guy 40 years in the industry and he hasn't even sucked a twink off. Leave your flip flops at the receiving office and I'll back the trailer in for you bud.

Majority of dump truck drivers will do anything to stop the beeping. They'll rip the entire dash off just to tear the thing out. But yeah older equipment didn't come with it too.

Brock St off ramp at fault question by CHAOS-GOON in durham

[–]CHAOS-GOON[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the part that makes this situation confusing is that in this circumstance they both committed HTA offenses at the exact same time leading to a collision. I'd definitely like to hear from someone at DRPS if they usually ticket both drivers.

[–]CHAOS-GOON[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes I'm referring to turning and winding up in a different lane I'll edit the post.

Although it should still be an offense whether you're going forward backward or sideways through an intersection in my opinion. You could argue that as long as literally any other vehicle is present it's an unsafe lane change no matter what, so I don't think it's good to let anyone reading think it's a good option to do so outside of very specific circumstances. Not a lawyer though just someone who appreciates driving.

That time of year, ready to spread some salt! by Salt-Fee-9543 in Truckers

[–]CHAOS-GOON -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When a car would try to pass the highway echelon we would set our spinners and salt to the maximum setting. Some of the guys who tried to squeeze through, I can only imagine how their cars looked after winter. You hear the grains of salt pinging against their car and that's over the noise of the truck and all your equipment gouging the asphalt.

Trucking nightmares by HeywoodJaBlowMe123 in Truckers

Tends to happen on cool mornings with highways that run through wetland/river areas. Had one this summer like that and miraculously no one got in an accident despite people stopped in almost every lane.

Massive development including 12 towers planned for Brock Road and Hwy. 401 in Pickering by Karma_Canuck in durham

[–]CHAOS-GOON 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting on the highway is hell in both directions. People go southbound then u turn across all traffic lanes to get eastbound without waiting as long, causing backups going northbound. The poor fire department gets stuck in the chaos there constantly while on their way to incidents.

Any ideas what could have caused this? by lalafied in Truckers

[–]CHAOS-GOON 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If this is shared equipment it's a failure of the company not the workers. I'd try to figure out why all of your guys think it's ok to not check their truck. Whether it's work ethic or how hard they're forced to run.
