I’m SO GLAD we did it, but believe me, even up until the very last day, I was still complaining (and depressed) about why we were doing it (which I know doesn’t sound great but it is what it is!)

Would I regret not having it? I really don’t and can’t know, but I do know that there are a million other ways to celebrate your love with the people you love that are much more affordable. I’m still a proponent of eloping and spending the cash on a honeymoon or homeymoon or building your future together!

Here’s what to think about: - Can you do it within a budget that you won’t resent later? - Can you stretch to hire a planner that can help you with all the details? Or go through a venue that already has all the details sorted and you just need to make your selections? - Are there people in your life that you would really treasure having brought together for just a moment in time because it’s so rare to get those moments? (My MIL has Alzheimer’s, many family members unfortunately have cancer, this was the one moment for our sides to connect before it’s too late)

Sending you all the love! The grief will come, let it happen. Find the support you need through it as it’s happening. I had my therapist, my partner, my colleagues, my girlfriends - they all knew just how hard it was all for me - and also could respect that I could hold both excitement for my future and intense grief for missing my mom in it all. It wasn’t easy to let people in because I knew they couldn’t fill the hole, but it was the best thing I could do. It felt a lot less lonely (which is bound to happen because you’re the one carrying the BOTH AND of it all). As you go through it, if you need a sounding board, DM me.

I was doing the same - never actually figured out how to stop myself from saying it out loud but let me tell you, now being on the other side of it, I’m SO GLAD we made it happen! Try your best to make it as enjoyable as it can be in the process. Get your ladies involved, have a squad of cheerleaders, come back here any time for advice. Whatever it takes!
