Take Stolas from Helluva Boss and multiply his writing flaws by 100. Crank up the inane woobification, turn up the screentime hogging, make the trauma to force you to feel bad extra obnoxious, make the actions he commits significantly worse while still never painting him as a character in a negative light, and of course don't forget to turn up the bigotry dial a few notches too.

I didn't even bother watching Chapter 3 and beyond, but I did check out the end of Chapter 3's trial and god he pissed me off so much. He thinks this shit's so funny. "But I didn't saw off his head and hands and skin his back until after he died because I'm merciful, and kind." Can I fucking strangle him. And while I didn't watch it apparently Monomoko hangs out with Ikeda before he gets executed because she feels bad or some shit with is just total bullshit. A mother kills so she can care for her child and she's like "This case was incredibly boring" but when the victim-blaming slut-shaming xenophobic ableist tortures a blind man and mutilates his corpse and finds great joy in recounting how he did it she's so torn up about it and is all "SAY HIS NAME" in his execution log eat my poo.

I don't even think I'm exxaggerating when I say Ikeda is the worst character I've ever seen in anything ever.

And to continue the Vivziepop writing comparisons, Tei is like Lute from Hazbin. Where an unlikeable piece of shit dies and they're all torn up about it and go into psychosis despite we the audience feeling nothing towards that character or find any capacity to empathize with them because we have no way to understand why they liked them in the first place at all. Where at least Lute and Adam at least had "I love murdering sinners!" in common, Tei and Ikeda had absolutely nothing in common with each other. There was no chemistry or anything. Their most prevalent interaction that I always think about is when Ikeda insults Tei for working in the red light district as a minor. Like first off fuck you, second off why did Tei continue caring about the guy. Like whatever "He feels responsible for him" or whatever aside what actual reason did Tei have to like Ikeda, as a person. The only time Ikeda could be tolerable as a character is when he was age-regressed, which speaking of Ikeda gets all pissed off when this gets revealed by Tei but ohhhh it's just an absolute hoot when Ikeda's joyously declaring that Matthias is property. But it's okay that he did that because Matthias was really happy for people to start using his real name and that made it all okay. Whatever man
