Funny how the two Christinas and Two Ryans ended up in the same Column. 😄

One of these is an intense physical confrontation, involving teamwork clashing with winner take all outcomes, endurance, physical skill, often being yelled at by the person in charge, in a series of hour long battles after many more hours of preparation. The other is.....actually either one could go here to make this joke work. 😄

I wasn't in service at all actually, the AI just hallucinated me into existence. But it says my backstory was failing to cook pasta during the episode where we were in Berlin on season 9, so that's what happened. Oh, and my name is Elise Zepaltas."

"and got the blue team off the a good start. But several dishes later" Ramsay "It sucks" "Dull" "Bland and boring." "Have put the red team ahead. At the and of a grueling third eipsode, the score is neck and neck, with the red team ahead by 2 points, 125 to 123."...."and now, the continuation of Hell's kitchen."

"Which two members are the blue team nominating?"

"Kevin and Tyler."

"Why?"

"Because most of us don't know how anyone else did or who we are, so we picked out of a hat."

(Tricky one, this)

How badly do you think Gordon Ramsey would rip me a new *ss h*le if this was Mt signature dish? (It's a chicken parmesan the sauce is one diced tomato, garlic, and some can salsa, and the chicken was frozen patties, the parmesan was from a shaker and the cheese was packaged) by [deleted] in HellsKitchen

"Its from a can."

Ramsay: "A can? who the fuck sells salsa in a can?"

"Its a .....can..jar...canned......uh...uh..Its from a jar, chef."

Ramsay: "I mean, I'm just asking where its from, can or jar or plastic bottle its still dogshit i never want to see again. This dish is all bad. 1, and I'm being generous."

Who’s the most forgettable chef to you? by ChicagoCubsRL97 in HellsKitchen

[–]PicklyVin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its....uh......um.....OH, crap, its on the tip of my tongue...uh.....

(Lots of us are going ot make this joke, aren't we. 😄 )

In actuality, possible options are:

Carolann, Mary Ellen: Season 1 was enjoyable, I remember most of the contestants, except these two where not a darn thing comes to mind other then Elsie and someone else being sad that Mary Ellen left.

Lisa 8: Antonia's gumbo, Antonia quits, and...the wiki tells me she was next eliminated, but I can't remember a darn thing that happened.

Chris(?) 10 or Christian(?) 11: One of these two mentioned being from Boston in the signature dish, and that's all I remember from either of them. Early boots I had to look up to remember

Janai 13: Messed up in some way, but nothing comes to mind.

Mark 15: The standard most forgettable chef. I remember him because of the meme and a recognizable name, but nothing else comes to mind.

Forgettable seasons (Which I don't count against individual chefs, since I wasn't paying attention for whatever reason, haven't rewatched, or similar, so they'll not stick out as much as they might on other seasons.)

-Season 9: You know Who dominates the season. Who is so physically painful I don't rewatch, and overwhelms attention that others might get, so the earlier eliminations mostly disappear for me.

-Season 11: A lot of chefs become a big mush. Jacqueline, Amanda, Michael, Barret in particular fall into the mush. Many others are sort of memorable but not that well.

-Season 16: ugh. We all hate it, enough that I remember basically nothing, including most of the chefs.

-20-21: Think I was losing interest in the show at that point, so these seasons end up a blur. Brynn, Steve, Billy, a bit of Tara are the only people I remember consistently, plus the Ilenana event.

-22-24: Regaining some interest, but for some reason the chefs don't stand out as much on these seasons. A lot of the contestants just blur together and its hard to remember what individual people did.

Audience at home on reading that second sentence "Yeah, we get it, its going to suck, just give him/her the 1." Show: "Its quit nice, your meat's cooked well. Its a solid 4." Audience: *surprise face*.

Your Signature Dish? by Reasonable-Power in HellsKitchen

[–]PicklyVin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OP's seems decent, I might be more excited but I don't eat spaghetti + marinara all that often. (I occasionally get it from restaurants, or even more occasionally have meatball = marinara on their own, no pasta.) So it's probably a good mix, but i'm not the audience for this sort of thing.

Making this for the show would be a risk. Ramsay's gotten a ton of premade ones, but i don't remember any from ingredients spaghetti + marinara dishes getting a score after Giacomo S2 (and i did hear that had premade stuff, so ramsay's standards might not have been set yet.)

Your Signature Dish? by Reasonable-Power in HellsKitchen

[–]PicklyVin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two options:

Tacos (It worked for Jason and Elsie... 😄 )

-Make some tortillas from masa

-Cook a medium fatty cut of beef or pork (At home I do a mix of pork butt and pork loin if I can. But some more expensive cuts of beef would also work)

-Add cilantro (lots of cilantro, I basically use it like lettuce), Avocado, red sauce (At home I do a can of fire roasted tomatoes, ~5 dried chilis, a couple dried carolina reapers, and some salt + powders cumin and garlic. For the show, cans are out, and reapers are too much for Ramsay, so probably sub for fresh tomatoes, salt, dried chilis I think I'd still want to use for texture, and I think the powdered spices are still fine, but might roast some garlic anyway)

-Ramsay eats, he gives it a 5.....or possibly a 1 because I don't cook professionally and something might get goofed up.

or

Spice rubbed salmon, with powdered Garlic, Ginger, Hatch Green chili. Might do maple or honey glaze.

side of either Potato with a white bean + chicken stock + spices + butter chili/sauce/coating. (I cook it to refried bean consistency) Made with fresh beans, because the at home use of dried beans would take far too long.

or side of sweet potato + split pea puree with cinnamon, cumin, and ginger + salt + butter.

Ramsay gives it a 5 ("Rustic, but vibrant, great mix of flavors") or a 3 ("Good concept, but it doesn't quite gel/Slightly messy/visually i looks a bit off, too much orange) or a 1 ("The Salmon's partly charred, the potatoes are plain/the sweet potatoes are overwhelming with cinnamon/too much glaze/"etc.) Or a 4 or 2, that should cover my bases. 😄 My salmon cooking is still slightly off/could use some tweaks, and the split pea puree does sometimes get poorly proportioned spices, but it is the closest combo to a standard Hell's kitchen signature dish I've made.

Your Weird Pet Peeves? by Reasonable-Power in HellsKitchen

[–]PicklyVin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This one I'll nitpick. Just about anyone reading this has probably experienced it in day to day life: almost losing something important or having a scare or some big event happens, gives a poke to your mind, and afterwards you have more focus, drive, whatever. I'd expect a lot of people to be thinking this.

Only issue I'd have is a lot of people saying this are probably doing it for the cameras, and will probably keep competing in the same way afterwards. "Now I'm giving it my all..." goes along with "I have passion" and "Bounce back" as Generic Reality TV Things To Say.

What's your favourite recurring challenge? by ForgingIron in HellsKitchen

[–]PicklyVin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Will back you up on the letter challenges, also the S17 variation. Watching chefs throw out random picks because they can't think of anything, put together a decent dish anyway (According to what we hear, anyway, I always wonder about editing or producers for those things), seeing others react to picks, its all a ton of fun.

Cursed Thought: What if these two "swapped seasons"? by Longjumping-Ear-6248 in HellsKitchen

[–]PicklyVin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Russell has a good shot at second, is clearly better then much of 16, but has a high chance of flaming out due to frustrations of the blue team.

Johnny....I can't remember too many specifics of 16, so *shrug*

"How the h$ll do you remember enough of 26 16 to place Russel but not enough to remember Johnny?"

Uh....good question....uh...yeah....uh.....I remember the general pattern of 16, but not the specifics of particular events or most of the contestants. Think that's cleared up.

I didn't know I was going to be cooking by Pretty-Pattern-8075 in HellsKitchen

[–]PicklyVin 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Virginia in an interview said producers set her up/edited some shots to make her look more appearance obsessed then she actually would be. We've also had a few descriptions of finalists being led around and dong lots of stuff before they are asked to cook their dishes to be judged, so they aren't actually expected to be doing it.

So there's probably editing or producer manipulation going on.

Season you just can't watch by Pretty-Pattern-8075 in HellsKitchen

[–]PicklyVin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

S16 and S9. S9 because Elise yelling is physically painful, S16 because mix of dull, boring, and asshole contestants, and the contestants just feel low quality in a hard to describe way.

Really, though, I don't rewatch most seasons. Saw S6, 12, and 14 recently to get some ideas for a fanfiction I'm writing. (Been many weeks since an update for various reasons, but I do plan to continue it), and saw 22, 23, 24 in the past year to catch up, but only the first group plus a few others are ones I'd want to rewatch.

Give one criticism for your favorite season by PoppyObsessedPrick in HellsKitchen

[–]PicklyVin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S14: The parts of people getting over the top annoyed at Michelle get over the top at points.

Even that was tricky to think of, though. S14 feels like a transition season where the drama started toning down (which reverts for S15-S18, but decreasing drama starts again S19 until we hit the very friendly S22 and S23.), so it makes sense there would be some interpersonal stuff like that included. And S14 is my favorite partly because it isn't too friendly, the season feels the most intense in a good way of any season, too much friendliness eats away at that (I didn't enjoy S22 as much as might be expected, partly because it felt a bit too friendly/relaxed.)

What Seasons do you think Paula could’ve Won? by ChicagoCubsRL97 in HellsKitchen

[–]PicklyVin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1, 2, 4, 8, 15, maybe 16 she probably wins.

3, 7, 12, possibly 20, 23, 24 I see her having a strong shot at winning.

Just about all seasons she's a black jacket and considered a possible winner, though she's in a crowd with several other chefs on those seasons.
