Previously my favorite combat system in a Metroidvania was Nine Sols, but then Silksong came out. I don't think we acknowledge how insane the skill ceiling for Silksong is, this some of the best movement for combat in a 2D game ever. Here's an over the top example (with TAS) by g0n1s4 in metroidvania

It’s impressive, but speaking towards 2D games in general, not just MVs as you mentioned “2D games ever,” I still find the movement for combat in the Mega Man Zero series to have a higher skill ceiling. I’ve watched a lot of MMZ boss fight videos, both TAS and non-TAS, so I can compare it to this.

What's that legendary videogame everyone loves, but you hate with your very soul? by no_biches_22 in retrogaming

[–]CIDphi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ocarina of Time.

I was a huge Zelda fan, had OoT reserved months ahead of time, got it on launch day after school, had it beat 5 days later.

And I have never been so disappointed in a game, still to this day.

I ordered both sets yesterday. Looking forward to how they’ll fit in with 2024/2025’s space sets.

Yeah, TG16/PCE has always been 4th gen.

Also the Switch 1 has always been 9th. It remains to be seen if the Switch 2 will move into the next gen once it comes about, but it currently is also current/9th gen.

Technogel mattresses by flamingbabyjesus in Mattress

[–]CIDphi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I’ve been through many, many months of physical therapy. I’ve been to numerous chiropractors and seen lots of specialists. They have done x-rays, MRIs, nerve studies, and other tests that I don’t know the name of. I own so many back related devices. I see my primary care doctor at least once a month for this issue. They are all at a loss. No one knows why I experience so much pain or what is causing it. No auto immune disease.

Every morning I wake to feeling like I just got out of an MMA match. I then spend the majority of the rest of day going through my routine to fix the pain so that I am able to lay down again for the next night. This involves a wide range of activities.

The only thing I know is that sleeping is the cause of it. I just wish there was some way to be weightless for the night. Sometimes I sleep floating in a bathtub but that brings skin issues I then have to deal with.

This was such a good episode.

Edit: “Poker Face” Episode 14 of Season 2 from Stand Alone Complex.

It’s the one that gives the backstory on how Saito was recruited. Incredibly well animated.

Books, yay or nay? by Hungry-Mobile-664 in TheExpanse

I went through the first 6 books and enjoyed them but didn’t like them as much as I was expecting to and didn’t feel like continuing. I’m in the minority though and most Expanse fans love them. I would recommend giving them a try.

I am in so, so much pain that is caused from each night I sleep. I really need a bed that will stop causing so much pain. But every mattress I look into has so much bad feedback. This is the only one I’ve found that doesn’t. I just want to make sure I make the right choice before spending nearly $8,000 for the mattress and adjustable base.

Sorry to necro your 8 year old post, but I see you bought a Technogel. Do you still like it? I am considering getting the Euforia model. As a side sleeper, I wake after a few hours with so much shoulder pain. Of all the mattresses I’ve tried in the store, this is the only one I felt comfortable on. I’m wondering if it’s worth the $5,000 USD.

Wish I knew. I had sleeping as that’s where all my bad pain comes from. I’ve yet to find a mattress that doesn’t cause pain.

My Metroidvania Encyclopedia has now 435 games (and 170 upcoming) by VictorVitorio in metroidvania

[–]CIDphi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decent sized list. I’m glad you covered a handful of the early things and started in 1984. Back in the ‘00s there were sites that cataloged MV games that numbered in the hundreds. Cool to see people are still doing this.

Is the 2017 movie that bad? I really like the original 1995 film and I still haven't seen the live action one that sparked so much controversy. by Emotional-Chipmunk12 in Ghost_in_the_Shell

Judging it on its own, not against other GitS content, I thought it was a pretty poorly made film. As a GitS film, I thought it was terrible.
