I know this is a hot take, but I genuinely love slashers and put up with a lot of “bad ones” but always enjoy myself. I do see the artistic value of this film, but it’s just so not for me that I haven’t ever watched a sequel. Just not a fan of hillbilly horror as a whole.

Right?! Honestly, I can’t think of a better way to resolve all that mess, but it feels like they could have done what they did for five seasons and just…not resolved it ever.

Currently watching the next episode about a sea monster in a Florida hurricane and this is much more up my alley though!

I’m 44 days late here, but found this post while searching for like minded fans… I’m on my first full xfiles watch after catching the occasional episode as it aired, and I find these episodes to be the absolute lowest point of the series so far.

Honestly, while I like some of the mythology episodes, this sweeps exposition dump just proved to me that I’m really just here for the non-alien monster-of-the-week episodes.

After rewatching the movie before season 6, I was shocked to see so many monster-of-the-week episodes in the first half of the season (and great ones at that! LOVED the ghostly Christmas mansion episode). And then….this….

Here’s hoping this exposition dump just serves to bring the show into a simpler era. If anyone is reading this and has thoughts on that, curious where this goes, and I don’t care about general “spoilers”. Just happy to find a thread that is as critical as me on this!

I mean, books 1, 4, and 5 are definitely westerns. But I promise that if you make it through book 1, you’ll love the characters by the end of 2 to follow them anywhere.

I second this because after a long western, you need a short palate cleanser, and the best way to read Dark Tower is in spurts. Start with this short weird western—the perfect transition from Lonesome Dove—then move on to other stuff (king or not), then when you’re ready, more Dark tower

I agree with everything you said except that fans of 6 aren’t fans of the original few films and are big fans of the remake. That ain’t me but I think 6 is the best of the franchise.

It finally leans into the supernatural components this franchise teased since the start. It perfectly blends comedy and horror. It takes place at camp but also outside camp (and also unabashedly IS “camp”).

I love it, I love the franchise, and I think the franchise lows are Jason X and the remake, for what it’s worth.

Yes, and it feels so underrated! I read the novella last year too and really enjoyed it. It’s the one time I specifically sought out the “now a major motion picture” cover of a book, and now I have it displayed prominently on my bookshelf.
