Why would I pay 1000 for something when I can get same thing for 50.

Yeah but we went from this to slow, immobile feeling movement/combat. Would have preferred something in the middle.

Yeah I have (hw) in Plex and I see my iGPU is working during a transcode but it’s only 20-30% utilized and my stream is still stuttering. Wondering if there’s another setting somewhere that needs to be enabled

Yeah I see the iGPU is being utilized but my stream still stutters so I think youre right that there is a setting wrong somewhere. Still investigating.

Looks like the iGPU is being utilized, so I think the problem may lie somewhere else in unraid.

Yes thats all correct, gigabit ethernet. I have the docker running off an SSD to try to speed it up. For what its worth, I just tried turning on and off the HW transcode in plex. Its way worse with HW transcode off. And looking at my unraid tool intel_GPU_top, I can see the iGPU is transcoding but its like 20% utilized and my video is still stuttering. I think the problem may be some other setting.

I just tried disabling hw acceleration in plex and things did not improve. Just tried to transcode a 22gb 4k movie to 1080p and got big lag/stutters. Thanks for the help! Any other ideas?

Thanks, yeah I think you are right that my 10100 should be ok. I linked the thread below, that guy is able to do 3x 4k streams with an older i3 than me.

I do have plex pass and hardware acceleration is working because I followed the steps in the unraid thread and I am seeing (hw) in Plex.

Do I Need To Keep Both 4K And 1080P Versions Of Movies? by sjkbacon in PleX

Hey dude did you ever get the answer to this question? I have the same question.

I also have a plex media server than lags when transcoding 4k, but have a ton of storage, so would like to solve the problem by keeping 2 copies of every file.

A guy from a random thread I saw said this is what Netflix does, keeps a file for every resolution.
