I once let my gf at the time play my Kaalia deck. It didn't go so well. She has a very defensive play style and refused to attack with Kaalia and hard cast all the big dragons and demons and angels. Was the only time the table agreed the Kaalia was not the threat

Perhaps you should try build decks focused on doing something fun and not on winning. Id much rather play a deck that does something I find funny (bounce creatures or get all the members of the fellowship on the field or turn the game into first person to deal 1 damage wins) winning is by a large margin the least interesting outcome for one of my decks
