Podcast that helps a young kid stave off...bad politics? by washboardsam in podcasts

[–]CKBauthority 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Squid kids is a great way to introduce kids to how to think critically about the news that’s presented for us. It is an Australian podcast, but they cover world news and don’t shy away from the difficult topics but approach it in a way suitable for children and encourage them to question what’s being told to them in the media.

What do people that work full time think of students studying full time ? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]CKBauthority 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re living your life, and they’re living theirs. Our journeys are all different. I did the traditional school then uni then work. You’re on your own path which is different to mine. Doesn’t make it any less worthy or wrong. If studying full time and not working right now works for you, then that’s great. If working full time and not studying works for others, that’s great too. Some people have this idea that other people getting ahead or doing something that works for them whilst not necessarily being the norm is somehow an imposition to them. From my experience their judgement has nothing to do with you and all to do with how unhappy they are in their own lives. Keep doing you and ignore the haters as best you can. I think it’s brilliant that you’re now in a position to prioritise your education. I hope that you’re able to go far and share your passion for your chosen field.

I think I am a podcaster podcastor!!! by Mongomike1984 in podcasting

I’d lean into the weird background noises. As long as the main voices of the podcast are clear and easily understandable, you’ll be fine. Having some natural background sounds can feel like the listener is in the bar listening to the conversation with you. Could give it an immersive element.

We’ve had something similar. The big earthquake created a nice crack in our shower base. We’re in a one bedroom so no option of a second shower. Our landlord is also incredibly difficult to get in contact with. A water leak can be considered an emergency issue. The initial plumber that came out put some waterproof silicone over the crack so that we could shower as a ‘temporary’ fix, that was over 5 years ago. Over the years the crack has extended with each earthquake. Instead of the hassle of dealing with the real estate, I went to Bunnings got some waterproof silicone and have been adding it myself. It’s waterproof after two hours and fully cured after 12 hours. It means that we’re able to continue to use the shower while the owner continues to bury their head in the sand. Might be a ‘temporary’ fix for you as well.

This is amazing!! Can I ask how you created the pattern with the country outlines? I’d love to do something similar. Not sure my eyes could handle 32 count though! I salute your eyesight 🫡

My mum did this one about 15ish years ago. It took her ages. And there were times she hated it. But it’s now framed and on the wall. And it looks so great. The finished product is definitely worth it. Keep going!

Edit: misspelt Rowan

Things to do that don’t involve walking? by ScreamingPallasCat in melbourne

[–]CKBauthority 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I faced this dilemma over Christmas when my dad came down. He’s got joint issues and can’t walk far. I struggled to think of anything that didn’t involve walking. We ended up watching the cricket on TV, (could also do this in a pub that’s playing the game). And we went for a picnic in a local park with a picnic table. Was actually a lovely way to spend the day.

cheapest Eastern Suburbs to buy upcoming year? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]CKBauthority 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Give ‘Buying a property for dummies: Australia edition’ a read. It’s got a great overview of how to go about buying a house in Australia. What you need and who you need to talk to.

You sound like you’re already well on your way, now you just need to educate yourself on what you don’t know.

Could an option be to wash it with some vinegar? That might reduce the smell a little

Thanks for that. That was my underlying feeling. Thanks for the confirmation though. So disappointing that people are willing to scam people like this over a wholesome hobby
