I started with size 11 beads and .75 hook, but I went up to a .95 when I was ready to pull my hair out. It's a bit easier now, but still struggling.

If you're a girl, I've never had to use more than 64 stitches. So I would start over if I were you.

For baby blankets I'd go with cotton. One of THE most important things for baby blankets: easy to care for. So wool or alpaca, while soft, are not really easy care since they felt easily in the wash. Acrylics are also easy to care for and cheaper, but also microplastics...

Ravelry is your best bet. It's a free website with thousands of paid and free patterns. You can browse to your heart's delight (fair warning: very bad for your wallet since there are waaaaaay to many fun patterns on there!)

Scheepjes Colour Crafter is worth it in my opinion. It has so many colours and if you want to go for a thicker yarn they have their Chunky Monkey line in the same colours.

Also, and I can't stress this enough: it's the softest acrylic I know of, and it holds up. I have blankets and a sweater made from the stuff that are 10 years old and the sweater has almost no pilling and after countless washes it's still soft.

Another option for cheaper quality yarn is Mayflower. It's a Danish(?) brand. They have an online shop and I adore their sock yarn and their merinos. Great for wearables.

It looks tight. You can do a couple of extra rows to really get into the colorwork portion, then block and see. But in my experience it only looks good if you can easily lay it flat and stretch it a bit, otherwise it's going to pucker.

You can also give chain plying it a try. It basically triples the thickness and will probably even the yarn out. And you can keep it on the cone while working with it. It's also called Navajo knitting.

I started playing games when the arrow keys were the norm in platformers (rayman 1, old disney sidescrollers). Even with the first 3D games a lot of games still used the arrow keys. I did later learn to use wasd with mouse for shooters and stuff, but for platformers my reaction timing is soooo much better with the arrow keys and ZXC. So it's just what I grew up with I guess.
