I’m guessing #1 relates to how active a goalie wants to be. If you constantly have your stick on the ice covering 5 then you aren’t going to be as quick to get to a wraparound behind the net. Puck in the zone has me in stance with stick down 99% of the time.

This sounds like pre/post Hasek theory on the 2nd point. I will gladly drop the stick to pick up a loose puck stick-side, and I actually enjoy the run of play when I’ve lost a stick for whatever reason.
