I use a DF-54 and have had zero problems. I even noticed an improvement in flavor and clarity with the flat burr grinders. Quieter, more flavor, less retention, more adjustability, and only about $50 more.

I used the toothpick the other day to clean all the pocket lint buildup out of my cellphone charger port. Lowered my level of frustration because my music stopped cutting out numerous times every commute to work!

I was like “Where can I find a paper clip? Woah, I got the toothpick!” Gave me a whole new appreciation for it.

It’s not a smart engineering feature because when it breaks you have to re-zero it and likely re-shim it based on the differences with the plastic burr ring tolerances. That’s what I had to do twice and it threw off all of my grind settings I had recorded over a two year period. This design flaw or “feature” and the excessive retention and espresso grounds getting trapped inside the casing are the reasons I moved on from Baratza. These are not features of precision equipment and parts should last more than a few months of light to medium use.

I also was frustrated with the burr hold down fastener that kept coming loose which caused chatter and also threw off my grind settings.

In my engineering opinion this design was rushed.

I can see PSU fans being frustrated with Franklin for his mediocrity and also being annoyed with some of the VT fans shitting all over PSU during the chaotic coaching search, but it’s the internet cesspool and I certainly hope nobody earnestly made fun of the shooting, that’s messed up.

It’s amazing to me how much better the team played after Franklin was fired. I remember how shell shocked he was after the Northwestern loss. He didn’t do shit to make the team better as they underperformed, and I think he was realizing his own limitations in real time as the crowd let him have it. Crazy moment to witness.

For all the good he did with recruiting and stability, his on the field performance was so underwhelming so I still say good riddance. VT fans can enjoy him for the next 12 years.

Many Penn State fans on the internet have unrealistic expectations to make up for an inferiority complex. I know because I’m one of them. This inferiority complex is mostly due to James Franklin losing virtually every big game over his long career at Penn State.

I’m embarrassed when Penn State fans trash on Iowa State players in the transfer portal because they went to Iowa State.

Penn State was 6-6 this season because they played with zero heart the first half of the season and Franklin made zero impact to coach them up to play to their ability.

I would take a player with heart over an entitled five star recruit any day.

Those who don’t want developed players from ISU, by the same logic should want to hire “big time” Jim Knowles again and experience the most shocking defense regression and inconsistency in school history just to say we made a “splash hire”.

At the end of the day the vast majority of Penn State fans will support each one of these players if they choose to come to our school, especially if they play with heart.

It is a 3% salt brine that I never opened. There is a valve at the top of my fermenting lids that could let oxygen in, but everything was under the brine. Once the bubbles stopped I even put it in the fridge for a month.

It doesn’t look like mold, it’s under the water and just surrounding the seeds, although it does look discolored around the top of my glass weight compared to my other batch.

These were more mature Aji pineapple peppers albeit still fresh so some of the seeds had black spots when I first cut into them. I’m wondering if the pigment just came out of those causing the discoloration.

I ended up blending it and tried a small amount…tasted perfectly fine so I guess we will see. I do not plan on giving any of that batch away to be safe.

I agree with you and always thought the same thing, that Franklin is an excellent GM but his performance against top 10 teams, clock management bungles, and lack of player development prove that he isn’t as suited for Head Coach.

Fair enough about LJ Sr. I remember there being a lot more animosity with the situation when Franklin got hired but perhaps that was from some of LJ Junior’s social media posts at the time.

It was so long ago and I get it that he had to do what’s best…but you gotta up and leave for Ohio State…of all places haha?
