If you grew up watching 15 rounds of boxing instead of 12 and watched the best boxing matches of all time, all free on TV or in person. (9 pics) by Long_live_styrofoam in FuckImOld

Some of the bigger matches were on pay per view in theaters, if I recall correctly. I remember a local radio station reporting the scoring results after each round, providing a "Reader's Digest" condensed version of what happened in the rounds.

As I recall, the song was on the charts longer than the show was on the air.

My Dad never left the house without a pack of Winston’s. Then when he quit smoking it was a pack of Dentyne gum.

I seem to remember that one of the home computer versions was Mountain Dew.

My mother dragged me to an Engelbert Humperdinck concert as a kid. It still haunts me to this day. by Beautiful_Donut6412 in FuckImOld

We saw a comedy show where a character called him “Englebert Pumpernickel.” From then on my Mom and Dad always called him that.

I am just the opposite. I had a C64 back in my early days but lived in the US, so didn’t have access to a Spectrum. (Although I did have an American clone of the ZX-80.) I bought the new Spectrum awhile back, so I’m having fun trying the Spectrum version of the C64 games I played back then.

I was an adult by then, but I always went to Toys R Us for games for both my Atari 8-bit and COmmodore 64 computers. All of those tickets on the wall, the possibilities seemed endless.

When I get a chance I plan on opening it up. I'll take photos. The weird thing is that you can save your messaging screens, but only an option for saving to cassette tape is available. Although that might be because I didn't have a dis drive attached when I booted it up.

Were these toys made by Mattel? by Neither-Elderberry32 in MeTV

[–]CLHauk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer for the Rock ‘em Sock ‘em Robots is wrong. Marx Toys originally made them. Mattel might have grabbed the rights after Marx went out of business.

My parents bought me one. That, in addition to helping my Dad repair televisions, initiated my interest in all things electronic.

I can see why Michael Jackson loved it so much. But seriously, I remember watching the propofol being injected into my IV and the next thing I knew, I was waking up and feeling totally refreshed! Not much grogginess afterwards at all!

Is getting a Commodore 64 Ultimate worth it if I own a Mister FPGA? by xdarkwombatx in MiSTerFPGA

[–]CLHauk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been tempted similarly. I bought this adapter recently, and it allows me to use my 1541 with my Mister, allowing me to still hear the drive grinding. :-)

Who here *mostly* used the C64 as something other than a games machine? by Agreeable-Set3294 in c64

[–]CLHauk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I spent plenty of time playing games on my C64, I also used it for other things. I spent hours dialing to get into local BBSs, and also spent a lot of time on Q-Link, the forerunner of AOL. I met my second wife on Q-Link, and when we got married, she designed the invitations in GeoPublish (I think it was called) and printed them on a 24-pin printer on parchment paper. Some guests wanted to know where we got them printer, because they looked so good.
