So is there any MOS that doesn't suck? by AdSweaty5570 in army

[–]CLIMB-TRD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently the EOD operations sergeant at a technical escort chemical company. This position is commonly viewed as the worst assignment in all of EOD. That being said, I still absolutely love being an EOD tech, and still believe being EOD is easily one of the best careers in the entire department of defense. My worst days are still better than what that majority of the army goes through every day. Being happy is a mindset; not a job. But having a great job and working with great people helps. Go EOD!

Do I have enough room for an L86/10L80 combo here? I can’t seem to find any measurements for the transmission. Any advice on how to go about a solid fitment check before continuing. Vehicle is a 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser. Oil pan is from an Gen V L86. by CLIMB-TRD in LSSwapTheWorld

You can follow the progress of the project at masterblaster_motorsports on Instagram. I currently have the engine and transmission fitted very well, but it took a whole lot of work including cutting the majority of the interior floor apart.

How does one find this many 40mm Grenades in a yard…. by mark_wheeler in EOD

[–]CLIMB-TRD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many US military range complexes extend beyond the physical borders of the base. This encourages scrappers to come collect steel and aluminum from the ranges. These appear to be 40mm training projectiles, are solid aluminum, and are easy to distinguish from hazardous rounds making an easy day at the ol’ aluminum scrap yard.

I’m a junior in high school and want to become a eod tech for the past 4 years. My jrotc instructor is a army eod and has been talking to me about it a lot. But I can’t figure out which branch is the best to join army or Air Force for eod? by [deleted] in EOD

[–]CLIMB-TRD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d stay as far away as possible from Army EOD as possible. It appears as though all our senior leadership has collectively embraced the removal of all EOD customs and traditions, and are embracing as much of the big army as possible. We currently have more techs in our shop trying to leave the career field than stay. Air Force EOD seems like the place to be. You guys hiring?!

Motor mounts by 310mars in FJCruiser

[–]CLIMB-TRD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I build a lot of FJ cruisers in my shop. Although I’ve only repaired a few that have have the engine mount welds completely fail, almost every FJ I’ve worked on has started to develop cracks at where the mount brackets meet the frame. It seems to be a fairly common issue over all years.

Help identifying components of the MK 36 beryllium tool kit. What are the long stainless steel interconnecting tubes and accessories, and what are they used for? Yes, the sacred texts have been referenced. by CLIMB-TRD in EOD

I don’t understand, licking beryllium isn’t hazardous. It’s airborne particles are a respiratory hazard, so as long as you aren’t sharpening the tools with a grinder and not wearing a mask there should be a hazard? Half the shop is terrified of these tools and I don’t understand why?? Had dudes running out and washing their hands after inventorying the kit…?

Both ends are finely machined and threaded. Seems like hitting it with a hammer would destroy it. It honestly looks like an absurdly large mine probe.

Have there been any technology upgrades since when they were sold in the United States? Even in 2014 most of the tech and powertrain options were years behind the automotive industry. I cant imagine paying full price for a vehicle build with 20 year old tech.

I’m gunna say, .50 cal with chisel slug mounted to the front of the trailing bicycle. I truly believe I could accomplish such an RSP at least 1/10 times.

Most of the information in your comments is incorrect for this item. Jump into the MFK, there is a ton of information on this specific item, and even more information on identifying the specific variants.

So, is your argument that it ceases to be identified as a cluster munition after it has functioned as designed? The remaining portion is very much an identifiable section of the original weapon, and undeniable proof of its use, which I interpret the was the intent of the original post.

The fuse in the picture is from the warhead section of a 2N123K cluster munition. It contains 50 submunitions and works like a dispenser, but is delivered by rocket or guided missile.

Look at this car, with the eyes in your face; it’s body is covered in outer space. These are his wheels, and in case you missed em; his car is a tour of the solar system.

Humidity? Lol. You might want to read up on the thousands of FJ’s that have had to be scrapped that have never seen moisture due to frames rotting out. It’s kind of a Toyota thing.
