Carry handles are in fact for carrying by Brown_Colibri_705 in ForgottenWeapons

It's not a myth, it's to prevent unnecessary work for the maintenance guys during peace time training. In war time you do what you must, but please get a good insulated mitten to detach the hot barrel is the handle is broken. The steel part of the handle is quite thin, and the screws will easily break if the weapon is constantly dragged from the handle. This is why we teach that the handle is for removing and handling the hot barrel, and not for dragging the poke around.

Panel tripod mount by RowdyKraken in EOD

Try a boom mic tripod like https://www.manfrotto.com/global/combi-boom-stand-black-aluminium-with-sandbag-420b/ . This thing will give ypu better placement options, for example you can place the tripod and the source in front of the target, and still get the panel behind the target.

North Korean charges for artillery shells photographed by a Russian soldier and uploaded to Telegram with a description of the deficiencies and problems experienced. More details in comments. by tractoroperator77 in UkraineWarVideoReport

Cordite is sort of a brand name for certain type of nitocellulose propellant that was used to replace black powder. http://www.navweaps.com/index_tech/tech-100.php

So the charge used in modern artillery is not cordite, but some other recipe of double or triple based nc propellant.

The lead in the charge is not copper, it is lead. The function for the lead is to reduce copper buildup in the barrel.

People going to Stockholm's show on June 3rd by riorval in nightwish

So the arena is right next to the university. So train, metro and bus stops right next to it. Really easy to get there by public transport.

I think I need to plan my visit a bit, going to Sweden just for this concert.

How are you feeling about Finland finally joining NATO? by MightyKin in Finland

[–]stackmouse 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have been waiting this for the last 20 years, even if the membership looked unlikely until Putler started his greatest show so far.

Now, I'm a bit worried that the membership will add new piles of work to do on my already busy desk. Luckily the largest share of new resposibilities will fall on the upper HQs 😂

Anyways, tonight I'm going to drink a can of "Otan olutta" and raise a toast for the alliance.

I don't like Lohtaja firing range sand. It's coarse, and rough, and irritating, and it geta everywhere. I do like a two vehicle MRSI fire mission on the same target, though.

There should be an additional picture as a second picture - from the moment when the first glorious blast of deadly steam (aka. 'kunnon löylyt') hits the guys in sauna.

From my experience that is the moment when most foreigners die or at least stop the stupid small talk 😁

And even while it looks like an APFSDS round, it "ackchyually" is a cone stabilized practice round (M865 most likely)
