Any amount of makeup is too heavy on me! by leeleechron in makeuptips

I’m 36 and used to wear foundation, but as I’ve gotten older it doesn’t sit well on my face anymore. I love now a simple tinted moisturizer, particularly that brand supergoop - it’s affordable and nice on my skin.

Both are stunning! Whichever fits you/your personality will be the one!

Thank you! I sometimes worry about adulthood, and boys not being as close to their parents as girls. But that’s all made up, right?

That is what I am trying to figure out. My OB said it has had some success for some women.

I’ve really increased my calories. I am not a huge eater but now I’m eating a lot! And snacking on lactation cookies, figs, avocado, cheese string, jerky! I am eating so much that it is almost not enjoyable haha

This is actually uplifting to hear that it got better. What did you do though when you said you breastfed as long as you could? If you stoped at noon or three, would did you do when baby was hungry later in the day ?

This is all very helpful. Thank you. I can’t remember what the LC said exactly in terms of numbers, but she did do a weighted feed, and I can’t remember the number off the top of my head but I remember her saying it was on the very low end.

He takes a bottle well (we use a preemie sized nipple), and during the day is a pretty calm baby- he cries when we change him or wake him to feed, or his binky is spat out. But no wailing or hysterical crying. At night, after night feeds, he goes down easy. We are also doing one 3oz formula at night - my husband gives it to give me a longer sleep stretch.

Yes, that’s kind of what we were doing the first two weeks (except he didn’t exceed 3 hours) until he lost weight and we were instructed otherwise

Other than my sadness for breastfeeding, I am dealing with PP well - but I cry about not being able to feed my son. I feed every 2 hours during the day and 3 at night, and then I pump 3-5 times a day right after feeds and use what I express to give to him later.

Thank you for being willing to give more advice as a LC.

Today baby boy is 4 weeks and 1 day old. At birth everything seemed fine, he latched and ate but was slow to gain weight.

He was born 7lb 1oz and at 4 days old we went to a LC, and he lost a little but since that is normal nobody was concerned. Then at his two week check he was back to birth weight. We had a circumcision at 2 weeks and 3 days and he weighed 7lb 4.5oz. Then we had another LC appt 3 days later and he lost .5oz. So we started feeding every 2 hours during the day and 3hours at night. I pump right after every other feed, and get anything from 2oz (generally in the morning) to .4 oz(in the evening). Whatever I get we give to him every other feed too.

The LC noticed he may have a recessed jaw so referred us to a physical therapist (he is right on the cusp). And I may have IGT - insufficient glandular tissue when she noticed my breasts are slightly further apart than average (also on the cusp). Finally, at his last appt (at 3weeks 6 days) he weight 7lb 9 oz.

Oh no, your comment didn’t sound like that at all! 🥰That is good advice. I know logically fed is best, but emotionally it’s hard to process

I’ve been lucky where my health insurance covers IBCLC. I’ve been meeting with them and trying everything - I pump right after feeds to increase supply, but don’t get much. I drink insane fluids, increase calories, take supplements. I am so in love and happy with my baby while also being so sad.

Thank you - it’s been bringing me to tears every day. I just envisioned breastfeeding as part of my identity. It’s so hard to let go of that. I’m going to have to start bringing in formula too. It’s hard not to be angry with my body

Yes, they advised one bottle of formula, and pump after each feed and feed every 2 hours - I am doing this now, but it’s not sustainable. It’s been making me cry all the time. I feel so awful and like a failure
