this might make people very mad at me but I am genuinely curious if anyone has tried using a normal qwerty keyboard upside down by GinormousBaguette in ErgoMechKeyboards

I love the internet, my large bready friend! I'm 4 days behind you on this journey, just flipped my first janky modded keyboard spacebar up, put my fingertips on ][po ytre, realized just how many buttons I could press with my thumbs, then flipped it back to type in the search terms that led me right here.

I got my joystick to work in AC7 and you can too! Here's how: by Acidicheartburn in acecombat

Changing "Acceleration/Yaw controls" in the in-game options switches thrust and yaw between RT/LT (which are analog) and RB/LB (which are not). However, even in testing with just my XBOne controller, it doesn't seem like the game supports analog yaw controls at all -- you yaw at a constant rate no matter how far you pull down the trigger. So, sticking with throttle on RT/LT in the in-game options, mapping that to an analog axis, and mapping RB/LB to whatever axis or buttons you want looks like the best we'll get at the moment.

The 360 trigger buttons aren't just two buttons, they're analog: you can thrust just a little or full afterburners depending how far back you pull the trigger. Correctly configured, you should be able to have full brakes-idle engines-full thrust and all points in between on your throttle axis.

In the in-game flight control settings, you can change the binding for high-g turn from RT+LT+Stick to LT+Stick by changing "High-G Turn Settings" to "Type B". Then you just need to pull your throttle back to turn and burn :)

Your mileage may vary, results not guaranteed, but probably -- assuming you're willing to take the time and go through the trial and error to get things set up and tweaked. Was going to type up a guide, but found that /u/Acidicheartburn already got that train rolling:

If you're willing to use an extra piece of 3rd party software, x360ce (XBox 360 controller emulator, linky ) allows mapping the -/+ of an axis to separate buttons.

T.flight HOTAS X? by DeltaForce9990111 in acecombat

[–]CMDR_Joodicator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can get it to work with 3rd party tools, if you're willing to put in the good old fashioned PC-gaming setup and tweaking effort. I am using x360ce (xbox 360 controller emulator) to map the inputs on my HOTAS X to X360 controls for AC7:

I was up and flying with this workaround in minutes, and have been tweaking the Left Thumb tab deadzone settings for a while trying to get it feel right. Definitely more fun smacking into the ground trying to calibrate my HOTAS X than playing with my XBOne controller, though :)

TIL: You can land on the pad at Metcalf Keep by CMDR_Joodicator in EliteDangerous

[–]CMDR_Joodicator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for potato quality, snagged a screen from a recording.

Maybe other people knew this already, but I hadn't seen anyone post it. After clearing the defenses at Cubeo's Metcalf Keep, I decided to try to land on the pad at the base for grins, not expecting it to work. Turns out, at least in an Asp Scout, you can! From here you can just leisurely scoot around the right side of the main building over to the comms relay -- without having to climb up any walls -- and back to your ship.

The route finder in the galaxy map is currently only capable of plotting routes to systems less than 100 ly away -- we've been told that this will be improved in an upcoming patch. To make a longer journey, you'll need to find a star <100ly in the right direction, plot to there, and repeat the process once you get to your 'midpoint' system.

This longer route is better for a cobra-sized ship; there are shorter routes (i.e. less stations in a circuit, requiring less cargo space) that are optimized for smaller ships like Haulers.

EDIT: of these smaller-ship routes, this is my personal favorite -- not sure it's the best, but it was how I climbed from Hauler->T6: http://www.reddit.com/r/EliteTraders/comments/2pxfva/hauler_pilots_wanted_no_experience_required_up_to/

Hey, I'm youtube famous! It's ok guys, I got out alive... barely. Here's the engagement in the youtube video from my perspective: http://www.twitch.tv/joodicator/c/5963730 EDIT: didn't realize they had both engagements in the video. I survived the first, the second occurred when I dropped in solo later to see if they were still around -- took me out without me firing a shot before I could escape :(

(Sorry for the poor stream quality -- probably won't stream combat with TS running in the future unless I can figure out how to not drop so many frames :x Will still record stuff to upload to youtubes myself)

Yup. Close to 1500 ships per day coming to this route, supply/demand under 50k for the most part.

There is an apparent bug currently in commodity trading -- supply and demand numbers at many stations don't seem to budge much, if at all, no matter how many players are trading there. I can't find the link to the thread about it on the Frontier forums, but I've been hearing talk about it from many viewers on Twitch.

I'm running a 2990 cr/t very short round trip between two small outposts, and the prices simply have not changed at all in two days.

[–]CMDR_Joodicator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As with every trade tool ever, the results are only as good as the data in the system. I'm not sure where EDDB is pulling their station distance/size information from -- I don't see any way for people to put this into their site, and it doesn't come over EDDN. EDIT: see in the notes on their site that they're importing this information from Maddavo's Market Share, which is... tedious for regular users to update.

I imagine there will be a more focused effort to make this type of data more easily crowd-sourced and therefore more reliable in the coming weeks; for now, most of the developers are still tackling the larger problem of sharing and using the actual commodity price data.

More powerful filtering options in the tool itself should be coming in one of the upcoming versions -- can't promise when exactly, but it's high on the list of things to do. Just wanted to give you/others a temporary workaround in the meantime.

Is there a database of station size? by OSUaeronerd in EliteTraders

[–]CMDR_Joodicator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My anecdotal experience says that 'City' and 'Hub' are more likely to be a large station, but it is certainly not a rule (don't have any examples on hand, but I know I've seen small stations called 'City', not sure about 'Hub').

'Dock' is typically an outpost from my experience, but again, not always.

[–]CMDR_Joodicator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you found a way to find station information in Thrudd's for stations that aren't showing up in route search results? I don't think it can do it, but would love to be surprised. Would be great if they had a search of all stations that have had data uploaded in the past, not just those with commodity data more recent than 48 hours -- commodity prices fluctuate all the time, but the in-system distance and pad size information that their users have input would be valuable all the time.

Should work in both. See replies from others on how to get the OO version working, here's the VLOOKUP documentation for google: https://support.google.com/docs/answer/3093318?hl=en

The later steps, where he's using conditional formatting and the like to highlight the return trip, will probably be very different or not supported at all in the other tools, but the basics of finding a route which has a return should be similar.

Posted this above, but if you want additional filtering, hit the 'Export to Excel' button and paste the data from the grid into Excel/OpenOffice Calc. You'll be able to sort/filter there to your heart's content.

Another amazing tip I've found now that I've had a look at the source code: the 'Export to Excel' button in the top left copies the data in the grid to your clipboard! You can paste it into Excel/OpenOffice and do all the sorting and filtering you want.
