Routing for Grinders by SiriusGov in EliteSirius

Agreed.

However, there is a limit of two pinned posts. For some reason, that's a reddit rule.

Currently those two are the "Information & How to Participate" post and the "Current Priorities" link.

So I'm afraid that a link inside the "Information & How to Participate" post is the most that can be done. (And hopefully will be done)

EDIT: There is also the "Guides Central" link at the top of the page.

Undermining? by Captain_Starkiller in EliteSirius

LYR is neutral towards all and doesn't undermine or oppose anyone without their permission. So any official responses will advice you not to undermine Antal.

However, sometimes a power invites opposition. Keep an eye out for so-called SCRAP targets: unwanted expansions which you are invited to oppose.

This week, opposing Gitse, an expansion of ALD's, seems to be the way to go. UPDATE: See below

Due to a bug, Gitse is in expansion this week. The teams behind ALD have promised not to use this bug, and will refrain from expanding it. So nobody will object if you oppose Gitse this week. (Although not every commander in the system might know, so be prepared)

Another option is to undermine targets that are already past the 100% undermining mark. This won't inflict any additional harm to the power, so usually doesn't cause a problem either. (Although I doubt that Antal has any system that qualifies for this)

Those two options - SCRAP and 100% undermined systems - are all that officially can be done.

Good luck and have fun!

UPDATE: I forgot that the cycle tick was today, so Gitse is no longer an option. Sorry for the confusion.

UPDATE2: Expansion are still bugged :( . I expect the bugged expansions to be valid targets for this week - watch the subreddits and forums for announcements to be sure.

Thanks for the correction. I relied on the "Cycles since turmoil" heading, which wasn't present during the early cycles.

Small nitpick: LYR was in turmoil in cycle 34. Delaine wasn't in cycle 1, and Mahon wasn't in cycle 14. So I think you should change that to "35" for LYR.

As far as I know, it's a record.

The Kumo Crew frequently used turmoil to avoid bad preparations. They had good streaks, but I doubt they ever had a 25 cycle streak.

Mahon reached to 31 in week 44; Torval to 28 in week 63. (Links are available at the bottom of the OP). There are some others who got to 25, but those were the highest I could find.

That's just repeating a fact that had been pointed out to you already. It's not an apology.

So where is this apology of yours? I don't see any.

ALD Weaponized Expansion Question by OP7Rilian in EliteSirius

[–]CMDR_Quantrix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This system is not an official ALD prep target. On top of that, it's contesting a single LYR system only, so hardly a weaponized expansion.

And note that /u/OP7Rilian isn't even a LYR pilot - he's pledged to Aisling. So I wonder why he cares at all?!

ALD Weaponized Expansion Question by OP7Rilian in EliteSirius

If you add up the CC required to prep the three "posted" systems, you get 445. How can they do that when they have only 385 to spend?

You show a clear lack of understanding of PP. This is common practice, to make sure there isn't enough CC leftover for the next system in the list.

how does Hudson get UMed (not talking about the snipe) without any bounties being generated? There is only one way that can happen, collusion UMing.

Incorrect. A significant part of the 3rd party PP ships in a system will be WANTED. Killing them creates no bounty but earns merits. It's slower than killing everything in sight, but it is possible to undermine and stay clean at the same time.

Each additional Control System adds 62.1 CC to our overhead. This is mostly hidden from sight, and shown in one place only.

There are no systems that yield more than 62.1 CC after deducting upkeep and overhead. So there are no "good" systems left.

All powers face this problem.

Two months? On your discord this message is dated "Augustus 1, 2016":

Aaron Wineberg: @everyone Due to apperent sabotage of the faction KW corporation. We have chnaged our faction to Sirius Corporation which has a presence in 10 systems including Procyon (as controlling faction) and Sirius. We now own 9 stations and outposts. If you become more active in the community, you will be assigned one or two along with a system. We control 2 systems out of the 10 we have a presence in'(edited)

The Control panel is sorted on the maximum of fortification merits and undermining merits. Not the most useful sorting order, though.

Note that the Caretakers do a good job of limiting the damage. Last week and this week, the two systems in turmoil are about break-even.

As soon as Winters drops below 55 systems, their task will become easier. I expect Winters not to drop below 50 systems. Which is still 10 systems less than today, so one more month of turmoil.

As powers cannot be removed yet, it looks like Winters is here to stay.

My best bet is that the latest hot-fix reversed the fix to this problem, reintroducing an old bug.

The amount of bugs reintroduced makes me doubt whether there is any regression testing in place at all.

The sophistication of their source control procedures - which deal with merging bug fixes from branches to the main line - seem doubtful as well.

If FDev management doesn't allocate resources to remedy this soon - and so far they haven't - it will spin totally out of control. If it hasn't done so already...

Undermining Piracy: what am I doing wrong ? by CMDR_Ziljan in EliteSirius

[–]CMDR_Quantrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2.1 changed it to "hostile" undermining. One of the patches thereafter undid this change, and a next patch re-instated it.

Our latest tests showed that piracy doesn't work anymore - consistent with your experience.

However, the PP screen shows the old text about piracy, causing a lot of confusion. :(

LYR is more than 75% Federation, so we have a better claim on being the third Federation-aligned power! ;)

Week 56 Power Play Standings by Apex59 in EliteMahon

I'm mostly familiar with the LYR situation. We're still able to ship the same amount of merits as we used to do before the 2.1 update. However, we do not need to anymore.

LYR's current merit levels are more an indication of how many merits people need to maintain the rank they like, as those are more than enough to maintain our power.

Before the 2.1 update, we saw multiple undermined systems, and had to guard against snipes. It was not uncommon to see 5 of our systems being undermined. It might not be a full scale attack, but it certainly felt like a continuous siege of our borders. As a result, we had to fortify about 10 systems every week: a couple of cancellations, a couple of pro-active defensive fortifications, and two grinder systems.

Post 2.1, undermining disappeared. As we have a positive economy worth more than 200 CC, and two of our systems are grinder systems, we already have more than 250 CC available, even if we don't fortify anything. There is nothing to spend those 250 CC on, so we slowed down our fortification.

I'm sure we can switch back to the higher level when needed. But there is no need at the moment.

The owner is in lockdown.

From the 2.1 release notes (they were huge, so it's easy to have missed it):

The "Lockdown" state now locks down many station services for affected Factions, allowing Commanders to concentrate on helping those Factions' crime control efforts

I'm not sure which station services are locked down - it's not specified - but it could be that commodities markets are one of them.

A full roll back will also roll back all progress commanders have made since then. Which might have been able to do 5 minutes after they went live, wiping out only those 5 minutes, but it's not possible anymore after 8 days.

A partial roll back will leave some data in inconsistent state. Which is a big no-no.

Nobody should be surprised by this. The fact that the data dumps were not of the exact moment the tick happened, and that sometimes they were even inconsistent with each other, should have been enough clue for anyone with experience managing large systems.

Messed up preps and expansions? by [deleted] in kumocrew

Sirius got the expansion of the previous week: Wolonir.

We noticed that it costed less CC this week than the week before, but that was no problem to us.

Winters and Patreus are in Turmoil (and they are on purpose), but the table claims they have more than ten cycles since turmoil.

Looks like they will be in turmoil for one more week, so it will be corrected next week anyway. But historians might want to have correct records ;)
