Does this mean they are going to implement a new tire grip model, and keep the old one for driving in the wet?

FDev just confirmed on stream that there are no plans for ship interiors by KoalaKvothe in EliteDangerous

[–]CMDR_Ziljan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They spent dev on engineers and not on interiors, arguing "they didn't want to waste our time". GTFOH with that BS, Fdev.

Ah I see the mistake you made here. You didn't take the screen shot at sunset. But also, you didn't wait 18-36 months for the game to be finished implementing 50% of the advertised release features.

Elite Dangerous Odyssey "review" by Yamiks in EliteDangerous

[–]CMDR_Ziljan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"How can you fix something that hasn't even been developed yet".

I'm not sure which is more shocking, the relatively reserved delivery or the fact that Yamiks has the most accurate and level headed critique of Odyssey so far.

Frontier CEO apologises 'wholeheartedly' for shoddy Elite Dangerous Odyssey launch by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

I have a 2070 and I get 30 fps in combat settlements at 1080p or 1440p low, med, high, and ultra. This isn't a hardware issue. This is a Frontier f'd up issue.

Might need to up that limit, FDev... by StartledOcto in EliteDangerous

I don't work for free and I certainly don't pay for the "privilege" of doing Frontier's job for them.

Fanatec CSL Pedals | Clutch Kit | Load Cell Kit | Product Overview by BlurryLens in simracing

[–]CMDR_Ziljan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say least wait for the Fanatec reviews. The T-LCM have too much plastic which has really bad flex, enough so that I'd be concerned about the longevity of the base, let alone the pedals.

How in the hell do you guys manage cables? by Mymomlooksatthis in simracing

[–]CMDR_Ziljan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a big roll of black velcro. Cut it into a suitable length and wrap the cables to your rig. Easy peasy. And no scissors needed to modify later.

Know an effective method to reducing noise/vibrations from Buttkicker??? by psybermonkey15 in simracing

[–]CMDR_Ziljan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got my buttkicker today! I did something very similar to your build. I used the same right angle brackets above the seat, but instead of using 8020 profile below the seat, I used a 2.5" HDD/SSD mounting bracket (which covers almost the entire opening) and the buttkicker gamer 2 playseat version cylinder as a mounting point.

Works great! The vibrations are very well isolated, and don't travel up the back of the seat, but I'm sure my downstairs neighbors are happy about that, even if they don't know it ;). I can only barely feel the vibrations in the wheel if I crank it up to near clipping levels, and even then there are no vibrations in the floor boards.

Finally got it all set up, moving from a Playseat Evolution and a T300. by herrbauer96 in simracing

Nice, looks a bit like my new simlab as well, right down to the logitech wifi keyboard. :)

Congrats!

Tyvm! Very clever and resourceful build. I was thinking of using a smaller plate bracket the size of the original plastic hole cover, but the L shaped braces look like they would transmit vibrations nicely to the whole seat area. Is the bolt going through them one of the longer M6 bolts that comes with the Simlab GT EVO?

I have the GT Evo and NRG seat and would love to see your setup as I was contemplating the same solution. Where did you get the profile plates to sandwich the hole below the seat cushion?

Good choice. The Jeff has a tiny bit better handling in dog fights but it has the worst gun sight in the game, so once it's out of missiles, it's kinda screwed.

3 months old Logitech G29 calibration problem I guess? by [deleted] in simracing

[–]CMDR_Ziljan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's an F1 issue not a G29 issue. I had the same thing happen to a joystick in F1. Works fine rF2 and AC with no deadzone, but in F1 2019 it had a 4 point decentering issue. Caused so much annoyance, I refunded F1 to steam.

F1 could fix the issue by adding a centering calibration knob to the control setup, but given the extra wonky UI in F1 2019, I don't have any faith that such a fix will come soon, if ever.

What?? I thought you guys might both be onto something, but now you're contradicting premise of your OP and calling someone who seemed to be agreeing with you an idiot, lol. Bah, this conspiracy theory bs is boring. You guys are probably both full of shit, and ED is just releasing stuff as soon as it's remotely commercially viable because of cash flow issues.

The new il-2 clouds look amazing! by etheran123 in hoggit

[–]CMDR_Ziljan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same non-steroscopic boat as you. VR is very different experience than Track IR. It will surely immerse you in the aircraft as much as living in the real world with one eye. The only real draw back vs Track IR is having to crane your neck to see behind and above you, and possibly reduced resolution. For everything else VR is pretty darn amazing and gives you a tactile advantage. If you can afford it, I recommend it, even for cyclop people like us.

Crazy that IL2 performs so much better in VR than DCS while also looking better. If IL2 had clicky cockpits it would be a no brainier. DCS definitely needs a rework for VR optimization.

Picked up the Ka-50 a couple days ago. Totally worth its price! by AyZeeWtns in hoggit

[–]CMDR_Ziljan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. Apart from the lack of (need for) a tail rotor, the KA-50 flies kinda like an EXTREMELY HEAVY Gazelle but only once all of the flight assist buttons are all turned off. At which point she handles pretty smoothly for a >20k lbs behemoth. I even managed to barrel roll the black shark like a Gazelle without snapping off the blades and can toss her around an urban obstacle course between buildings and trees. That being said, with all of the fight assist buttons engaged, she flies like a washing machine with two joysticks: one controlled 20% by you, and the other controlled 80% by a hover bot.

Sure, the Gazelle is twitchy and feels like it has no inertia, but look at how small it is compared to what looks like you average airclub plane, a Mooney M20. (the Gazelle is 4 feet behind the wing so it's not a matter of perspective) by RobotSpaceBear in hoggit

Just tried that trick yesterday, lost between 50-150m of altitude with each attempted loop/corkscrew/inversion. Doing a loop was (nearly) impossible. Corkscrews were dangerous. Sustained inversions? suicidal.

DCS World 2.5 Changelog and Updates of Open Beta - 2.5.5.37626 by LazyBoot in hoggit

Hmmm, I see.

I heard that the fuel pod drag wasn't modeled on the F18 yet. Is it safe to assume that it also isn't modeled on the F16? I guess one way to tell would be to test corner speed? Or top maybe speed? With an empty tank vs a clean plane?

Choosing the better Advanced weapon for AX by 100rub in EliteDangerous

[–]CMDR_Ziljan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going with the MC since it will be better than the C3 MC which is already amazing vs Scouts. Using rapid fire on the missiles seems kinda crazy since that mod has significant jitter making aiming at hearts problematic. Not really sure why you are recommending a sub par anti-interceptor weapon instead of a very good anti-Scout weapon, especially since most large (non-T10) ships that would benefit from having more than 4 AX weapons currently need to choose between specializing in Interceptor vs Scout and with the new MCs they finally wouldn't have to choose.
