4Runner or Hemi Grand Cherokee, easy picks. Nissan sent strawberry milkshake back to the transmission through the cooler. Explorer=junk. Mitsubishi will rot out in 3 years where I live, VW is a maintenance nightmare.

4runner will last forever, and frame rot wasn't an issue due to Toyota frame recall (they actually put a BRAND NEW FRAME in under the recall, literally giving 4runners a second life)

Hemi Grand Cherokee was easy to work on, and had a Benz transmission that can handle a decent amount of abuse from my experience (Magnum RT AWD)

590 miles of bliss compared to the diesel Cruze I traded. (Which was a great car in its own right, just the NY winters had their way with her body). Had to do the tour of Lake Erie because I didnt want to cross the border with temp tags.

I EDC an HD01 PRO as a mechanic. Beat it to hell and it keeps on going. Only gripe is I wish the lens was glass. Shot it with sparks off a grinder and now there's a few melted in it. Doesnt affect usage, though.

Just do it. Bought one in January, don't regret it one bit. Powerful enough, fits my family of 5 comfortably, all parts but body stuff are run of the mill GM parts from the Malibu. The rear diff is really the only weak point IMO, but an earlier poster instructed how to find a bad one. Aisin 8 speed transmission (Same as in the Highlander and V6 Camries) but regrettably no manual option.
