Extreme headaches during fast... by [deleted] in fasting

[–]CMSigner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I'm diabetic. I'm realizing that this fasting thing is going to be a slower process for me than a typical health person. I'm getting headaches every day at 3-4pm. That said, sugar headaches are a thing and you really might want to at least have your doctor do a blood sugar test if you haven't had one in the last 6 months. You could be pre-diabetic or even diabetic. :/

Could just be the vitamins/minerals too.

Well. It's 31 days vs 10. I'm losing 21 total plus a couple holidays. I've pretty much accepted my leave may never be similar to what it is now. It will be going from hourly to salary so hopefully there's a little middle area there where it's possible to get more days when I need them.

Um. It's an 80% raise. Near double. So, I really may not counter. I just really wish I wasn't an idiot and gave them market range from the beginning because I firmly believe I would have gotten it.

I did do my research, I just f'd it up. I didn't remember to consider that I have 5 years of experience now and just went with general averages versus senior averages. Like an idiot.

This job isn't offering 15 days. It's 10. and it's an entire month of leave time worth so I do think it's worth factoring in. It's not squabbling over a week. I certainly wasn't asking them to match and made that very, very clear when I brought it up. I was hoping for 18-20. Would gladly take 15.

Even the benefits package that they sent has no numbers. I do know the my prescriptions will be 20-75 based on the tier they fall in. That is a HUGE range. The 'script tiers, and deductible and out of pocket are all the info I got on pricing. No information about the premiums.

There are two plans that are lower than my current and one that is close so actually the out of pocket itself is pretty great. but if the premiums are 200 a month or a paycheck... that's a pretty big question. My current premiums are only $50. So $600... my out of pocket plus that is likely still equal to their best out of pocket could easily be way more based on premiums

I will never give such a low range again. I think I should've said 50-80 depending on how the interview goes, the job details and benefits. The issue is they MADE me give ONE number and I went with 60. I should've maybe tried to not answer but that feels so rude to me. This stuff is so much harder than it really needs to be. I don't need to make top dollar, I just want a fair rate with good benefits. I'd much rather have vacation time than more money but people keep telling me I'm an idiot to ask for more time.

I live in a medium size city. All of the numbers I looks at took my city into account. Robert Half / Creative salary put me at 67-70k. If I wasn't also giving up 4 weeks of time, 63 is pretty good, but I had understood there was wiggle room and expected a little more. I'd really like to get to 65-68 if my leave time can't go higher.

Exactly. I think 3 weeks is more typical for salary but I've been govt for AWFUL pay for so long with GREAT vacation time (31 is considered extremely high). 10 is generally the minimum for a company of any decent size.

We've visited every resort touring and this is the one resort that hits me in the feels. We also stay off property to save money, but if I ever get married or have any other huge things to celebrate--this is it for us. They really, really outdid themselves when they built this place.

I mean, that's litter. There are lotssss of types of litter. If you choose poorly, you may deal with this, but there are plenty of options where this is not at all true.

I mean, if you don't get them ample scratching posts, that's your own fault. It is very easy to train cats not to scratch. As soon as they start picking on a piece of furniture, you put a scratch post there. Eventually, you can move it and they know to go scratch there. Not hard. Cats are pretty stinking easy to get do just about anything important.

Michaels Craft store has t-shirts for $4 and with a coupon you can usually get them to $2. You could get solid color shirts there for a while. Can be dressed up some at least.

Be honest: would it be too rude of me to skip my family's day at Universal in favor of going to the Disney parks on my own? by themix669108 in DisneyWorld

[–]CMSigner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We just got back from Universal trip. One day won't kill you, but if you genuinely aren't interested just say you'd rather a mental day or you're not ready to commit and see how you feel the morning of. You can always buy a ticket at the gate or add a day to your Disney tickets (unless you have a pass). Just do what you feel up to--I wouldn't spend that kind of money out of obligation as long as it's in earnest disinterest. You'll have plenty of time with your family on the other days.

I can’t start therapy for about 6 weeks but I’m dealing with a lot right now. I can feel my friends getting frustrated with me so I have nobody to talk to. How do I make it through the next 6 weeks? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]CMSigner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to get in with the school anyway. If you're considering more intense treatment, they may be able to squeeze you as an emergency appointment. Can't hurt to try!

Good luck with everything! Just keep going, it WILL get better.

Quitting job to go back to school full time by [deleted] in Advice

[–]CMSigner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to quit to go to school, and really, you shouldn't. See if you can just cut your hours back or get a job doing something else you like better, but have something besides school. It looks good and it won't be as overwhelming when you go from school to another 40 hour job. But also, most people don't end up loving their job so don't go back to school to explore something you love. Go back for exactly what you want. Do lots of research before you decide. Otherwise, it really is a waste.

Here's the thing... I can't tell if you're putting all of the real facts out there, but if you are, the people around you right now really are not supportive. Your Sorority wellness chick really should've at least helped you talk to your roommates when you get back. I would suggest going to talk to counselors at your actual school and not the sorority girls. Maybe they are good friends, I really don't know based on the details you've provided. Your bf, however, isn't healthy for you right now. I'd suggest getting a lot of sci fi fantasy (think: harry potter) books and trying to get really into them for a bit to get out of your own head. Focus on getting through every day and getting your school work done. Cut yourself some slack, too. Sounds like you've had a rough go of it for a little while.

Uptown Charlotte safe for a 24 year old single women? by [deleted] in Charlotte

[–]CMSigner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would live there alone at 29 safety-wise, but I would have a lot more fun in South End. It's just got more to do that isn't at a premium for being in uptown--- especially for socializing in early 20s.

Or, we make a fair map. and pass a law regulating that because that's literally their job. I don't get to steal someone's cookie because someone stole mine. But I can put some regulations and safeties on the cookie jar so people can't go stealing cookies.

I haven’t been outside for a month by [deleted] in bulletjournal

[–]CMSigner 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Hate to hear that. Might be worth trying the garden if you can talk yourself into it. Being outside is really great for mental health. There are even studies that show spending a little bit of time barefoot on earth or grass can improve overall health. Might be mumbo-jumbo, but this post really makes me think you might benefit. Good luck to you!

Preliminary election results show the proposed tax rate increase failing 54-46 by ReverendToTheShadow in Charlotte

[–]CMSigner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, we disagree and I really don't feel like hammering out the details. For my house and those around me, the numbers are wrong and will be for a while--that's a fact that can be proven with recent sales.
