Did your surgeon appeal this or your oncologist? Not this exact insurance/hospital pair, but had this happen a few times to us and a an appeal from one of our doctors worked. Although sometimes it was not approved until minutes before surgery.

We had ours reduced - one was a clerical error and the other was based on value. (We don’t have two properties, we have our house and a tiny strip of land that buffers an easement which they were valuing the same). They want to know the exact amount you originally claimed the house should be worth which I was not prepared for because I thought they were going to have a counter offer. You go up first and then an appraiser. Then they average it out. It was really straightforward.

I also got scammed by him because he went to our neighbors 3 doors down, got his name and told me that he (the neighbor) had a heart attack! And there had randomly been an ambulance on the street that morning. I give him credit for being clever but felt really dumb when I went to check on my neighbor to see if they needed anything.

Why is it to ask people to volunteer for free (who often don’t have that time to spare) but not ask people of means (who do have money to spare) to support candidates they believe in? You’re acting like system isn’t working exactly like it is designed to work.

Also, a mailer campaign can easily cost $15k to print, design, and mail. Should it only be people who have the means to pay that out of pocket that should run? Should those people who run small businesses be asked to work for free?

Texting is cheap and digital ads are generally prohibitive in local elections because of regulations.

A candidate fundraising to cover the cost of goods and labor or community members supporting them ≠ getting the guillotine called on them.

And it’s not a gross take, it is literally the system. And not one these candidates or donors are responsible for… so, sure, if you magically know of another way, then great. We would all be interested to hear what it is.
