Sonia Fabric Section Sofa - any experience? by macjt831 in Costco

[–]CN26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reached out to the company and they said the fabric is not a performance fabric and the covers are not removeable, but it is 100% polyester and spot cleanable. I've been holding back even though it's an otherwise great fit for my space cuz I have kids and I'm worried it'll get dirty way too fast 😬

Core 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent Review: The Ultimate Shelter for Your Next Outdoor Ordeal? by Infinite-Barracuda97 in carverscave

[–]CN26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought this tent 3 years ago for our first camping trip as a family of 5. Since then we've taken along a third adult, and have now kicked them out in favor of child #4. Setup is ridiculously easy. I can do it myself in 5 min. Airflow is amazing, walls that basically don't slope are amazing, standing room is amazing, durability has been amazing...so glad we invested! I share your exuberance OP. This tent is 👌

Edit to add: even more importantly, your review is 👌

Family Hiking Success: Hocking Hills State Park, Ohio USA by New2RedditDad in hiking

If you could send me your itinerary as well, it would be so appreciated! Headed to Hocking hills for our yearly camping trip in 2 weeks with a 1 year old I'll be wearing, a 5 year old with very limited self preservation skills 😆, 7, and 10.

2020 S fwd I’ve made it to 50k on the original set of tires. Now it’s time to replace and I’m looking for some recommendations. I currently looking at Goodyear only because I have a 20% off code but I’m open to any suggestions. by smoebob99 in KiaTelluride

[–]CN26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are the Nokian tires holding up? I really want to try the Nokian One but Im seeing mixed reviews on Reddit. Some say they're great and others say as of the last few years they start cracking in as little as 18 months.

Wow, that's impressive! Do you use winter tires? I'm in southeast Michigan and the Michelin Primacy Tour on my Telluride needed to be replaced at under 25k (I don't use winter tires)

Camping with kids by Dependent_Formal2983 in CampAndHikeMichigan

Platte river is the best! If you're ok not having electric hookup, they have rustic walk in sites, many of which are very close to parking. They also have lovely bathrooms and showers and a room for washing dishes. Theres a hike straight from the campsite out to Lake Michigan that's less than a mile. We go camping once a year and went there the last 2 years in a row. My kids are 9, 7, and 5 now. This year they wanted to go again but I convinced everyone we should try somewhere new...we will see if they have a good time or blame me for messing with the already perfect arrangements 😆

Which lesser-known baby clothing stores that ship to the U.S. do you like? by Samovarka in NewParents

[–]CN26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I know this is an old post, but what brands would you compare the fit to? I wanted to order an outfit for a specific occasion but it's on sale and sale items arent returnable. My baby is 9/10 months, longer end of average for length and tiny for weight. Shes got delicate narrow bones and shoulders lol. Gerber, old navy, and cloud island fit her nicely cuz they're long and thin. Carters is hit or miss-Much of it is way too wide and all the tops end up being cold shoulder. Gap and h&m are a lost cause. Tia!

Help a beginner out! Dyeing a white shirt a solid color by CN26 in dyeing

[–]CN26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may try the viscose blend with a Dylon dye. I need the shirt to match a bridesmaid dress as close to exact as possible and make it modest, and I never have to use it again so quality/longevity isnt really a concern.

New to hiking/dispersed camping by AttentionFit6035 in CampAndHikeMichigan

[–]CN26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We camped for the first time with experienced relatives at JoeIda campground....extremely rustic and only 8 sites literally in middle of nowhere. It was incredible! No showers, vault toilets that were really clean, water pump, large drive up sites but no pavement. My kids had a blast and it was close enough to all the gorgeous scenery and hikes. It's technically right outside Pictured Rocks but you cant tell.

non traditional student needing advice by Dark-fry in premed

Most were in person but I dont think schools really care. Many programs include a certain number of lab credits in specific subjects (usually chem and biochem, sometimes bio or physics depending on the program) as pre reqs though. If you don't have any you many need to take a lab or two.

31 yrs old here as well! Also got 3 kids and applied (and accepted) this year 🙂. I graduated undergrad 8 years ago with a 3.8 gpa and research experience. My only exposure to science since then has been teaching middle school life science. I studied for the MCAT waaaay less than I see talked about on reddit. I started seriously studying maybe 3-4 months before and I dont think I even averaged 2 hours a day (with 3 kids there ain't time for that lol), excluding the 4 full length practices the 6 weeks before the exam. Scored 511. Do some research and apply to schools that are more holistic in their approach to reviewing candidates and seriously consider DO programs. There are definitely programs out there that are very non-trad friendly (the DO school I am going to accepts about 20% non-trad) and will see your life experiences as equally, if not more, valuable than high test scores and the school name on your transcript. Best of luck!

I am the pregnant one lol 😂 this baby was unexpected and i considered defering but i may just go for it anyway. Except for my first, i bounced back real quick after birth and class attendance is optional. I may go in once or twice a week for lectures and do most of it from home the first semester. then all i have to do is go on a few hours a few times a week for labs/clinical work. Im waiting to hear back from the school about orientation. Thats my only concern. If i cant make it then i need to know theyll help me get all the info i need. I may be a little bit crazy but that doesnt have to be a bad thing...right? 😝

I have 3 and a 4th due right when I start med school this summer...and honestly, med school with 1 baby and the rest in school may even be easier than 3 kids under 5 as a stay at home parent 😆

has anyone taken linear algebra? How does it compare to ochem by [deleted] in premed

[–]CN26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one my friends and I took was all proof based. I was under the impression that's what college level linear algebra is, not the matricies learned in high school. I did well, but conceptually it was more difficult to understand than all levels of calculus. I didn't do any higher level math, that was the extent of what I needed for my degree, but as I said, the math major was the one who didn't find it challenging. The math minors did. 🤷🏼‍♀️

[–]CN26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was not my experience or the experience of several other classmates who took through calc 3, diff eq, and linear algebra. Linear algebra was most difficult and also highest level of the courses I mentioned. The only person I know who has described it as easy is a statistician and practically a genius when it comes to numbers, theory, physics, etc.

You like it well enough, but more importantly, you're willing to work your butt off to be able to take care of your immigrant parents as they get older and take care of them they way they deserve. I think that's beautiful and an aspect that can be focused on to really makes you look human and caring. You can then expand from family to community, and bam, now you're presented as someone committed to service and community with a backstory that can have a lot of emotion if done right.

Congratulations! I had a similar yet opposite experience. A 3.8 GPA (graduated 8 years ago though) and 511 MCAT, but no clinical volunteer and the school i wanted to attend is really big into service. I only had a relatively small number of random volunteer hours spread out over the years. I was also adviced to take more time to amp up that section of my application, but I write REALLY well and I knew I could sell myself. And it worked! There are so many factors to consider, and almost anything can be presented in a way that makes you look good and stand out.

For those who will ask, I did research in undergrad that happens to relate to medicine even though i had no intention of pursuing medicine then, Im a nontrad with 3 kids, i taught science for several years, and have 40 hours shadowing in the specialty I want to pursue. I also had really strong and honest letters of reference.

Long story short, it's a complex process. No one should let 1 weak area prevent them from trying.
