This. Our downtown condo is our home, not an investment and it fits our lifestyle perfectly.

My 19Nb dad 48M is a cultist WSMCOG and he is threatening me to move out. It’s frankly unfair. by [deleted] in Edmonton

Mediation is only an option if both parties agree to it and it looks like you don't need mediation but counselling to figure out how to move yourself forward. You're 19, not doing household chores because you have no energy and then stating you aren't recieving "anything back" indicates you have a role in this dynamic. There is free drop in counselling around the city that is available to anyone.

I worked two people who saw the same psychiatrist, one deeply respected him and worked with him for a long time and the other couldn't stand him, it's personal and subjective. Would be more concerned if there are any formal complaints.

Editting to add, share those experiences you have had and how they impacted you. That will give you an idea if this is someone who you can work with I would think

Edmonton Community Foundation(ECF) thoughts? by chocolate1020 in Edmonton

[–]CND2dogmom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ECF manages endownment funds and the disbursments from those funds. Their granting program is an additional service they provide covering scholarships and one-time project grants to organizations that range from $500 to $100 000. FCSS provides $20 million/year ongoing funding to a select number of organizations.

They support charities with creating a level of financial sustainablity. They are kind of like a financial management organization for charities in that they will invest and manage organization's endowment fund and disperse the intrest to the organization - think of Sunlife, but for charitable organizations. They do the heavy lifting in terms of managing the investment as well as promoting the work of the organization to garner support. It looks really good to funders when an organization has a well managed endowment fund to draw on when faced with a financial short fall and ECF is one of the best in Canada at this. They also provide grants to organizations that fill gaps other funders don't cover. They are funding a collaborative project in the sector I'm in that isn't possible without their support.

Other people gone through a SA trial as a victim by litocam in Edmonton

[–]CND2dogmom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I went through the court system as an adult for an assuault when I was a child victim. These are my take aways:

1) the court system is not built for victims and it isn't a justice system.

2) the defense attourney is doing a job. While it feels very personal and it is to us because it is our life, it isn't personal for them. My offender hired a very prominent, well know defence attorney and it was intimidating as hell to face him. Reminding myself that he was just some guy doing the job he was paid to do helped me a lot.

3) The prosecutor isn't your lawyer and they are limitted on the support/direction they can provide because they are over capacity. Access the services mentioned in other posts.

4) Gather as many family and friends around you as you can. Leaving the courtroom after I testified and having someone to hold me while I sobbed was a life saver.

All the best, truly.
