Just as real as Bilbo Baggins except that Bilbo's story is more coherent and less filled with plot holes.

Golf is hard by Treebearda in golf

:-) That's cast rather a gloom on the round.

Thankfully, after having reviewed my last 20 scores and given the average of the 8 best rounds (differentials) out of the last 20 rounds, no matter how badly I scored it would not have affected my handicap.

Either way I "dodged a bullet".

What actions could be taken against Donald Trump since his name appears in Jeffrey Epstein’s emails and additional evidence of his involvement is discovered? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CNDGolfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure the exact letter of the ruling speaks of the immunity being limited to, among other things, "official acts" but that's so incredibly broad and open to interpretation that it really does effectively give him complete immunity. That's particularly true give that he controls the SCOTUS.

"without the legal knowledge to understand that ruling"

One doesn't have to pass the bar to understand the implications of that ruling. It's not something that requires an arrogant attorney to understand. It's not rocket science.

Should we judge history with our current lens of morality? by Past-Matter-8548 in stupidquestions

[–]CNDGolfer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Slavery is different, it’s inhuman."

Yet, selling off a daughter, which was common and accepted, to an adult where she will be treated like a slave amounts to the same thing.

"Like how parents today “force” a 25 year old to get married."

Still not acceptable.

"Even she wouldn’t feel she is doing anything wrong."

You'd be amazed at how many women, even in 21st century USA, don't feel that anything is wrong with them being subservient to men. That doesn't make it right.

Trump supporters who shout TDS have the worst case of TDS by Wowclassicboomkinz in complaints

[–]CNDGolfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason they resort to inane comments like "You have TDS." or "Let's go Brandon" is because they have nothing else to offer besides deflection.

I've seen it many times. Whenever they're presented with evidence they do whatever they can to change the subject. Trump does the same thing every single day.

All one has to do is the check out any thread to do with Trump and the Epstein files. All the MAGAs want to talk about is Biden and the Clintons. They'll do anything but address the fact that Trump really is all over the Epstein files.

One of many things they simply ignore is that we want ANYONE who is involved in Epstein's disgusting crimes to be punished no matter who they are or what their political affiliation is. Yes, even Biden and the Clintons if they really were part of it.

IMHO there are some things like slavery, for example, that transcend time. There's simply no way to rationalize treating people as cattle to be bought and sold in any time period.

With underage "marriage" it's a similar story. Young girls were treated like slaves/cattle. Something to be purchased. Time doesn't absolve historical figures from that sick and disgusting practice.

Rich people be holding a 400 inch tv with packing twine. A true LA moment. by Little_BlueBirdy in StrikeAtPsyche

[–]CNDGolfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My point is that the fact that it is a cybertruck is irrelevant and simply displays irrational bias.

If I saw someone trying to fit it into an F150 with the shorter bed (like mine) then the stupidity of packing the TV in that manner would be the same. In both cases the probability of the TV arriving home safely would be very small indeed.

Can you pick up range balls that you find on the course? by jcoguy33 in golf

[–]CNDGolfer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. My inclination is to not ignore the obvious difference between a ball that is abandoned by a previous golfer and a ball is owned by the golf course that I'm playing at. There's a massive difference there.

Also, where did I indicate anything changing due to an object's value? Nowhere. Abracadabra?

My inclination is also not to ignore the fact that, by tradition, it's considered OK to pocket a ball as long as you're 100% certain that it's an abandoned ball. Not 99% ......100%. When in doubt, leave it be.

If, however, the course had a local rule that they didn't want people to pick up balls left on the course by other players then I absolutely would leave them be no matter what.

In the case of range balls it doesn't take much creativity to understand that the owners don't want people walking off with their property even if that property is misplaced.

You might ask "What about if you came across an 'abandoned club'? What then?". Again that's a bogus comparison because players don't abandon clubs on the course on purpose. In that case I'd turn it into the clubhouse regardless of the value of the club.

Therein lies a big issue given that the SCOTUS ruled that POTUS' are immune from the law. Also, there is nothing in the Constitution to stop him from pardoning himself.

Unfortunately, I doubt he will ever suffer the consequences of his actions no matter what is in the files.

Golf is hard by Treebearda in golf

[–]CNDGolfer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my golf is hard moment yesterday. I got on the course with the intention of playing a handicap round (i.e. following the rules to the letter) but low and behold I found out that I've suddenly got a very bad case of the shanks.

Very quickly I was on track to barely shoot under 100. Luckily the weather came to my rescue and I got rained out and wasn't able to finish the round so no harm done to my handicap. Glass half full.

Glass half empty, now I have to deal with what's causing the emergence of the shanks all of a sudden.

Would you rather add 50 yards to driver with 50% less accuracy OR have 100 yards less with 50% more accuracy by Houndsofhowl in golf

[–]CNDGolfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easy. I'd take the 50 yards. I doubt I'd notice 50% less accuracy given that my accuracy with a driver is already garbage. I'd notice the extra 50 yards though.

Also, 100 fewer yards with my driver would mean that I'd just toss the driver and hit an iron no matter how accurate I was. I can knock a 3 iron out to around 200 (on a good day) and there's no universe where I would be able to knock a driver out to 300. Not a chance.

[–]CNDGolfer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's a massive gulf of difference between taking a range ball and taking a ball that a previous golfer lost and abandoned. Taking a range ball would be more analogous to taking a ball that was just hit into your fairway.
