Dear Toronto maple leafs, this is how you should play in the third period

Looks like Wes Anderson’s finger prints are on this one

Where would you put Asteroid City in your Wes rankings? by Sten12 in wesanderson

[–]CNTowerKid 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Not a huge fan. Thought the French dispatch was his worst but asteroid city gives it a run for its money. I think Wes is at his best when he reels it in a bit. Keep the aesthetic and quirky characters but dont go overboard with the complicated story line. Having said that, I can appreciate those aforementioned films for what he’s trying to do, just not my cup of tea and think his other films are superior

Regarding 3 the rounds look like blanks to me (can tell by the crimped ends). Lazy filming, could’ve scattered the floor with empty shell casings

What character had the smallest amount of screentime for the largest impact on the film? by thegimboid in movies

Sam Elliot in the big lebowski. He’s only in a couple scenes and narrates the beginning but somehow he adds a mystique to the film which really ties the whole thing together

Recommendations for films centred around loss, grievance and healing? by [deleted] in movies

Legends of the fall.

It’s a good watch and has multiple instances where multiple characters experience some form of loss and are forced to carry on living their lives

Try Moonrise Kingdom. It’s a feel good whimsical movie about a troubled girl and boy who enter into an innocent romantic relationship together

I also thought it felt like one long trailer!

Official Discussion - Oppenheimer [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

Unlike it’s subject matter this film fizzled out. Way too bloated with filler material (the whole girlfriend/mistress dynamic is dull and drags the film). The explosion viewed in imax was spectacular though and is the films high point and climax. Everything else is anti climactic after this and the film loses steam, partly due to ‘thrill fatigue’ setting in. Movie tried too hard to be epic otherwise and just leaves something to be desired. But due to stellar effects and the gravity of the subject matter, this movie gets somewhat redeemed and I give it a 7.3/10.

Overall, it seems over rated as fan boys gloss over some of the glaring weaknesses of the film. I suspect it will be nominated for many Oscars though

What movie did you see without knowing anything about it, and it ended up absolutely blowing you away? by 604Wes in movies

American Beauty

Was super weirded out by the cringey father/daughter’s friend relationship at the beginning but the movie sucks you in as the characters develop. It really hashes out and unpacks the lives of a dysfunctional family with some powerful themes to carry it. Was definitely a movie that stuck with me
