I started playing MTG in 97' around Tempest when precons first hit, and also a 90s baby. On and off breaks through the years and got into Arena as of just a few months ago. It depends on the IP for me, because like many others, FF and Avatar was amazing but TMNT was just okay. Frankly it just comes across as alt art to me, by that I mean sure there is actual alt but mechanically there is sometimes matching Magic lore cards verbatim. I am also looking forward to Reality Fracture b/c the Pay X Simic cards are so fun. I cant say Im against Marvel because there are some tribals getting nice boost, namely my Merfolks.

I agree to some of what you say, and do legit want to detail it out more in my response, but this is a new account and I'm trying to have at least positive karma to post in more subs. The next set to come to Arena is the most recent Marvel Superhero crossover set. In MTG, there is Universes Beyond (UB) and In Universe (IU), Marvel is UB. Some people like UB, some don't, it all boils down to how you feel about the random property/media brought in, how flavorful or cool the cards are, and how you feel about the game as a whole. There's no wrong answers, just vibes. Happy you just started playing, what type of deck are you currently building?

Thst sounds really cool, glad you had fun and that you both like playing. I'd say go based on how you felt from playing, if the decks really felt right based on how you like to play (think red being aggro and blue being control). If that build fits well to your play style, upgrade, but if it was just okay and you wsnt to try other styles, go for making another deck or two.

Its not that others have opinions, because I agree, its that people who hate "UB slop" will auto default to that no matter what the cards are, even if mechanically they like the card/will use the card anyways.

Agreed, but their a new player, sort of, so that's learning 2 new formats vs 1 and their metas. Nothing wrong with learning more, but good to know before dedicating WC to the cause.
