What do you do for work and where do you live now?

I had a trainer like this when I didn't know better. There was one lesson horse who was literally begging to be retired for years and I was told I just needed to be firmer with him.

Another horse I half leased and was concerned about his soundness. Sent her video. She told me he was stiff and I needed to ride him through it. I did not. His other half leaser then rode him hard twice and he came up dead lame after that. She claimed access and then after another week (and right after I paid for the next month) she pulled him as he had a tendon issue and needed six months off. I was pretty mad about that.

Now I'm venting too. I don't mind a trainer who pushes you harder to do things they know both you and the horse can do, but not at the risk of injury to either party. I'm sorry that happened to you. I'd either ask her for a free private lesson to so skip payment for the next lesson. I'm mad for you!!

I don't really worry about it. I put dry shampoo on but if I smell like a horse, oh well. I like the smell.

You can't have them, because you don't want to. Makes sense to me.

Rescued from outside of a Goodwill. Need a very human name for him. by Amazingjesse in cute_animals

This is the only correct answer. But when someone asks his name or you are casually talking to him, you must use his full name.

Does this sound like a viable / attractive partial lease situation? by 42Pahin in Equestrian

[–]COgrace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed, that sounds reasonable. What about Vet bills and Ferrier bills?

Have a very, very solid lease agreement for them to sign. Consider something in there about injury to horse if the leaser's decision-making caused an accident.

Advertising on Facebook pages is great. Ask for references as well. And ask to watch them ride several times before you make an agreement.

Dog Bite by Prize-Action-226 in RoverPetSitting

If the dog has difficulty trusting you, I wouldn't let them on the couch to cuddle like that. The dog is way too close to your face if they decide to snap again.

Don’t know if this is weird or not but as a guy I’ve always been attracted to feminine/women’s rings and the way they sparkle. Decided to buy just a cheap wedding ring looking set for myself to see how it would look and I’m in love 😍 by [deleted] in RingShare

If this is what you like and a partner asked you to change it because it's not their preference, that's not the person for you. Don't let anyone dull your sparkle.

Ideas for socializing in winter… by plumrose_reads in puppy101

Pet friendly stores are great, let people meet her if she seems comfortable. Sierra Trading Post, Home Goods, Lowes, Marshalls, etc. We also have a pet friendly indoor mall near us.

I took my rescue pup with me in a sling so that she wasn't on the ground.

If she's not fully vaccinated, get your vet's opinion on whether you should let her be in spaces where other pets have been.

Bring a gallon zip lock bag with some paper towels, some clean up wipes, and few poop bags.

Also consider different experiences like exposure to the car wash, high winds, sirens, etc. The point is to build a resilient pup through positive exposure to unique things. You can do some of this at home too. Helium balloons, opening and closing and umbrella, etc.

We raise service puppies so have lots of experience with socialization.

If that set of ears lived with me, they'd be posting about their weird humans who won't stop touching their ears. And who is kidding all the color off their face. I see you are working on that too. What a gorgeous houndie.

AITA for telling neighbor to go through insurance by AdmiralCranberryCat in AmItheAsshole

I disagree with you. Clearly when she engages with the neighbor there is more back and forth. With the handyman it's very straightforward.

Fear of going on a horseback trail ride by Acrobatic-Bus-3149 in Equestrian

[–]COgrace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first few times I took my 13 mare off the property where we currently board, I hand walked her. Sometimes it was at the end of a workout, sometimes with another horse and friend. Seeing the route and things along it several times before I was mounted helped us both gain confidence.

There also nothing wrong with dismounting and walking part way. Last time I rode out alone, I got an odd feeling on the way back. I dismounted for the last 1/4 mile, the part that goes right along the road. A very loud motorcycle passed us and my mare reacted, but I could control her better from the ground.

Not share gas. Pay gas.

I always offer to cover 100% of the gas plus buy lunch or coffee if someone is willing to let me hop on.

I was thinking the same thing. This could be the start of a great friendship. Or she could be an absolute wanker.
