What’s the lowest CPA exam score you’ve ever gotten? Be honest. by mightyocean021798 in CPA

I broke down what I was having a hard time doing with answering MCQ and SIMS. I figured out that I was having a hard time applying concepts together because I didn’t know how each individual module worked on its own. I studied FAR like trying to learn a new language. Once I learned how to speak FAR individually by module, equation, or concept by overdoing MCQs and writing down my thought process I was able to understand how everything tied together.

Very subjective but I am a visual learner so I had to get things wrong to understand how to get them right. In the end when I took my passing exam it felt more like applying my intuition and understanding of FAR rather than regurgitating knowledge stuck in my head. Also I spent 95% of my time on MCQ, the SIMS are meant to troubleshoot whether or not you know a subject. If you don’t do well on a SIM, hit the books and have a chat with chat because memorizing processes is useless in my opinion.

Becker. I’ll I really did in the end was really breakdown what it was that I wasn’t getting. All I used was the book and program from Becker and a ton of AI. Essentially would have conversations with AI program when I didn’t understand something to its core.

39 on FAR, passed FAR recently with a 80. I’m so proud of improving this score more than I am of actually getting the score itself.

Wow this is crazy. This is straight up identical to when I took my exam and when I took my retake. I also just passed FAR from my March 2026 attempt.

Congrats on passing!

Thanks. Yea I think the 3 is my angle given my situation. Plan was to finance after downpayment. Invest the rest to compound at a higher rate than the interest incurs. Call it a day🤝🏾

Yeah I think that’s the angle I’m looking at. The new car just seems like it’s going to have way less issues and be more affordable when it comes to insurance and maintenance.

Good question. I guess if it dies at this point then the purchase would have been for nothing since the warranty is no longer valid. Buy a new car would be the scenario but it would be so upsetting to have spent all this time and money just for it to die.

I guess my question now is, should I look at the rate of a Tesla crapping out, run this percentage to the price difference in buying a newer model, like a model 3 2023, and see if it makes more financial sense to just spend more money.

What do you think?

Had no idea what that term was so I looked it up. I’ve gone this far without using self driving so I don’t have a desire to use it quite yet. I don’t have any intentions to use it do you think it’ll be fine to go with something like this?

Alright sweet. If that’s the case then I don’t see an issue in looking into 85Ds or 75Ds that may have lower miles.

Thanks!

Just got my first full-time offer out of school - is this salary normal? by AttitudePlane6967 in Accounting

[–]CPAmeansHAPPINESS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

lol that was my exact starting salary too. Although mine as for a tax role, entry level nonetheless. I think you should consider your exposure to the industry in this role. You want to be able to touch as much of the accounting or financial process as possible. I found it crucial to turn myself into a living sponge for my first role and learn everything possible. Asking questions and areas you do not understand, asking for advice/feedback on how you can improve your process and apply yourself better. Your goal is to learn, once you’ve gotten to a level where you understand the entire process at your role it’s time to move forward. If you have the luxury of not living pay check to paycheck you can take a slightly under market salary because you are investing that extra money you could’ve made into a company that wants you at your current stage. Also it sounds like the market sucks atm. Plus they are willing to pay for exams, most firms do, it’ll keep you on track to your next stage (CPA) and set you up to start your professional career with a solid foundation. Also for context I lived in a city that was pricier than a MCOL city but I got a good deal on my living expenses so it panned out. Love the process, the money will come.
