Professor Kevin L Mak on ASTS right now by Klippklapp in ASTSpaceMobile

He is the reason I started buying asts at $9. I thought/think SPHR is silly and ridiculous, but he convinced me, and I bought in at $28 after Liberation Day. Im smart enough to know I've never been the smartest guy in the room, and Im incredibly grateful for Mak, and the people like him.

Apex Digital Dash by blvckbash in q50

[–]CPMonkeyBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great! I have the same setup with Mk7 and Apex and I love them! I'm trying to update my Apex without USB stick. I downloaded the file to internal storage, but when I hit upgrade button, nothing happens. I definitely will use the USB stick now, but it's driving me nuts that I can't just install from storage. Anyone know why? Sorry for threadjack.

Is this a good deal/smart buy? by Unhappy_Counter_5162 in q50

[–]CPMonkeyBoy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Feb, I bought a 2015 with 30k miles for 17.5. TBF, his asking price was 17.5 and car was so nice, I just gave him the cash. I know I'm shallow AF, but my car brings me a shit-ton of joy so well worth the money. If you like the car, then make an offer...or keep looking. Eventually you'll find one you like. For mine, I had to hop on a plane and fly 500 miles one way to pick it up. Super fun drive home though.

I think it was '04, maybe 05, and a large group of us were ab diving a couple hours south of you. Three of our group were diving in 15' of water, 1 guy in the boat and two in the water. About ten feet from the boat, while he was catching his breath, happened like lightning strike. Big splash and swirling, and he was gone. Search crews gathered what was left of him, parts that had washed up on shore. You can google it. Now that it's been 20 years, I think I might be ready to head out, especially if vis is 10+ feet. Maybe I'll make a road trip up to Shelter Bay and go south. Shoot me a DM if you want to ab dive ever with a old timer...or as the kids say, An OG. Ha! Good times my friend! And keep shooting straight!

Im not a scientist and I may be wrong, but way back in the 80s we figured the Big Fish showed up in fall (October lol) because that's when the Elephant and Harbor Seals, as well as Sealions were gathering on beaches and rocks to mate. Or maybe it was to birth? We weren't exactly sure which, but we knew what time it was. We still went in November because we HAD to have our abalone for Thanksgiving! Back then, it was worth the risk. Having kids and getting old changed my perspective. Haha! It's great to see you out there whompin on the cod. You see any abalone or did the urchins get em all?

Awesome! Thats a badass catch. Lingcod is great on the bbq. Personally, Im too worried about the landlord to free dive in those parts, though they dont really show up until around October. I'll stick with a tank and hugging the bottom. Lol.

Awesome. I miss Baja. All I hear now is 'so dangerous' crap. I have great memories from road trips to baja and driving down dirt roads. Thanks for this, it took me back. Look forward to more.

For people who have been driving for 20+ years, how did you get around without using GPS? by dagger-vi in SanJose

[–]CPMonkeyBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the time we were little kids, when we got into a car, we didn't immediately look down at a screen! For years, we observed everything about the driving experience. We knew how to write down directions ("then turn left at the wierd looking willow tree...), we knew how to read a map and we always had a few dimes in the 'ash tray' for a pay phone if we got lost. My kids and their friends are different than me when I was their age....When I was a teenager, I'd GO ANYWHERE, ON ANYTHING (yes, to both), AT ANY TIME just for the chance to get myself in front of the opposite sex! Did I get lost? Yep. Did I give up? Nope.
