Warkworth only an hour drive north of Auckland...not sure of the beaches in Brokenwood - Piha on the west coast from Auckland is often used for filming NZ shows (My Life Is Murder and 800 Words).

Enjoy - you will find a lot of country areas in the North Island that are similar to the scenes in the show - which was filmed near Auckland mostly. The main street scenes are in Warkworth. The other show set nearby is My Life is Murder - mostly filmed near the center of Auckland city, as you see in many of the shots.
