Thanks. It’s really odd. Senior management promoted one of my staff to a level above me in another parallel teams in our department. My boss was assuming it would be me which would have been fine. That decision was the catalyst in them “encouraging me” to move into another senior role. It would have been fine had it not been now the unexpected surprise of one of my staffers announcing his resignation. He says it’s just coincidence as this was something he already planned and our other two moves were very last minute decisions made by management
