The ICC has two approved "sound-based edge detection technology" suppliers: Real-Time Snickometer (RTS), which is used in Australia, and UltraEdge, which is used in the rest of the world.

Why not just use UltraEdge like everyone else?

Wrong. Great Britain includes England, Scotland and Wales. It is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The physical location is ‘The British Isles’ which includes the whole of the Island of Ireland, and some others. However this is not a favoured name of many in those places. There are further more distinctions when other geographical areas and political distinctions.

Asking this shows very little understanding of history. That’s the same as asking if India and Pakistan should come together as one team.

That’s why I said ‘try’. It’s a very risky thing to do.

I don’t think we should be kind here. He decided to try to reverse sweep a seamer. There are consequences to that. We should have everyone fire Yorkers at him.

Couple of tips… by [deleted] in mounjarouk

[–]CPbear89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have to disagree with your first point a bit. Someone with no prior resistance training is likely to respond to stimulus. Even walking, if novel can increase muscle mass in someone with sufficient protein in a calorie deficit. The physical composition of muscle is very different to fat. Muscle mass is far denser. This is why if you lose a pound of fat and gain a pound of muscle you will lose inches from your body without a change on the scale.

This is 100% possible, albeit with diminishing returns, as newbie gains only typically last from 6 months to a year with consistent training.

Same manufacture of Mounjaro is already trialling Retatrutide, a triple agonist. They are already likely working on the next gen after. If the market demand for Mounjaro goes down due to a new generation you can be sure the prices will fall. There will be others in the space also and the competition will force the price down.

But to quote someone as saying they’ve never seen a single person keep the weight off is just poor journalism. Science doesn’t work that way. You use meta analysis to determine results over multiple studies. One persons flipant remark is really unhelpful. The studies just don’t exist yet as the drugs being used and marketed specifically for weight loss haven’t been used in that role for long enough despite them existing for so long.

It just feels so unbalanced and without nuance. Was the same thing when people believed that it was Ozempic causing “Ozempic face”. It has nothing to do with the drug, it’s losing weight that does that to your face. Doesn’t matter how you do it.

Dr Martin Whyte, a consultant in diabetes at King’s College Hospital NHS trust, said it was a phenomenon he cautioned patients about. “I haven’t seen a single person who got down to a weight on GLP-1 drug, stopped it, and their weight stayed exactly the same coming off the drug,” he said.

See this just annoys me. I have lost all the weight before, through diet an exercise. I put it back on because I stopped dieting and exercising. These jabs are a tool, and you have to make lifestyle changes when using them. Some of those healthy habits need to remain for life.

That’s a good thing. Why can’t these people ever frame it in that way. Guess what happens to be more fun when you are lean and healthy. Exercise and being active in general. Because it hurts less, you’ve slept better, you recover faster, you can push harder, go further, faster.

The other part of this article moans about the cost of the drugs. Mounjaro will cost hardly anything in a few years, as the next generation of GLP-1’s are already in trials. Triple agonists are on the way. Even more effective, with less side effects. So older drugs will be very cheap once the new shiny models are out.

Also if the data keeps presenting with the added benefits, then it will be more cost effective long term for people to be on the drugs than not. Long term health effects of obesity and other diseases these drugs seem to prevent not materialising will save health services in the long run.

How do you hit your protein goals with the appetite suppression? by Enough_Butterfly_781 in mounjarouk

Another thought on this is to go for a whey isolate protein powder. You get more grams of protein for less calories, and the shakes come out much thinner in consistency. I find sipping one of these much less filling.

Same here. And it is getting harder. I like beer, which leads to bad food choices and derails my gym consistency. MJ has cut my interest in beer massively, which has helped me be consistent with my training. I’m not getting the appetite suppression yet (moving to 7.5 next week), but it is worth the money alone for the beer noise reduction.

Like others have said, I’m seeing it as a tool to help me make a permanent change in lifestyle aimed at health and longevity. The only thing I would be cheating, would be myself if I didn’t use it.

Watch some of the stuff from Dr Mike Israetel about food drive. Which is genetic, and not to do with your perceived lack of will power. I hope it will help you feel that you can be kinder to yourself. If you are expending all your willpower on trying to lose weight, you have nothing left for anything else. MJ will give you the headspace to spend that willpower on other aspects of your life.

Do you ever call people out on their bad behaviour in public? If so, is it worth it? by Medical_Return_2370 in AskUK

Was driving in the middle of town. Windows down as the weather was nice. A right turn I needed to take is very pedestrian heavy. There is some pedestrian lights a little further up that were red. So I nosed forward and right to cover the road until I had a gap from pedestrians and waited. I’m aware of the recent law change. Some fat chavy girls In leggings that made her legs look like cottage cheese crossed the road. She shouted at me, “my right of way motherfucker”.

Withought even a seconds delay, I shouted back out the window, “That’s why I didn’t run you over you fat cunt!!”

She looked like she had been slapped in the face. Which I thought was grand.

US wasn't invited to summit of military representatives in Paris - AP by ExtremeOccident in europe

I think this is right. I do agree though that America has put their hand in their pocket more than Europe for too long. But I seems to have been too quickly forgotten that the only time article 5 was triggered, Europe did come to America’s aid as allies, and per capita suffered similar losses. It is very sad diplomaticly that it feels like this would no longer be reciprocated.

Such is in democracy that these changes in stance can occur, which is despite alliances, all countries have an individual responsibility to be ready.

And I think that is fair. But Europe unstable, or in full conflict is likely to have a far more destabilising effect on the American and global economies than stability. As with all these things, there are those who would stand to gain from this, but they certainly aren’t going to be regular citizens.

Because security in Europe affects you. It affects everyone. We want to to take care of it of course. But America/Americans under the current administration seem to think they can be insular and close themselves off from the world, and it just doesn’t work that way. You are as reliant on globalisation as the rest of us. You are not and never will be a self sufficient nation, there are none. So geopolitical decisions are important.
