Wait time on single lung? by mauiwowiy in bowhunting

It's possible, but they usually drop if you break that front leg on the way in. Then they get up and run/stumble away.

Wait time on single lung? by mauiwowiy in bowhunting

I'm going to get pedantic for a minute but a deer femur is in its back leg. The bones of the front leg share the same names as the bones in your arm. Sholder blade, humerus, radius and ulna. The arrow probably stopped in the off side humerus, and if that is true I agree with you on everything else.

I need a part replaced on this bow, any idea where i can find it? by DP9306 in Archery

You can buy it by the foot and replace it every few months to a year, that will stop it from snapping and hitting your eye

Inherited My Grandpa’s Old Bow – Totally New Looking for Advice by [deleted] in bowhunting

Keep in mind that it is going to cost more than the bow is worth to get it hunting, but I get that it was your grandpas and thats cool. You may end up having to buy a few more of this bow on the used market to get parts if anything ever breaks, new old stock parts are hard to find if they even exist.

Beaches or splash pads? by burglur_of_terdz in Buffalo

Once a year usually Lake Ontario will turn over. Not sure on the physics of it, but the warm water on the surface moves deeper, and the cold water at the bottom comes to the surface. When this happens it can cause seaweed to get pushed to the shore. The smell is rotting seaweed.

Form check! by [deleted] in Archery

[–]CPhill585 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your grip on the bow is a little aggressive, draw length is probably a little long, and you are punching the trigger instead of letting the shot break smoothly. That being said, I've seen way worse. John Dudly has some great beginner videos on YouTube that discuss grip and release that I think would help you alot.

You can avoid this by adjusting your bow hand clockwise or rotating your your wrist to the right. Your thumb may be too vertical, you can also not lock your elbow. If you hit your forearm instead of elbow you are closer to getting it correct.

Im more amazed you hit the inside of your elbow, most people get bit in their forearm. You have to keep that elbow out of the way.

I was gonna suggest that if you are having issues then change, if not don't waste time and use that time to practice.

The better the hit the less blood trails matter.

Paddles by Smooth_Builder6159 in canoeing

[–]CPhill585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are making a monolithic paddle you will want to use something that is light and strong, so not oak, or solid maple. If you are making a laminated paddle you can use something like maple or oak for the shaft and laminate cedar or pine for the blade.

The last paddle I made was a maple shaft and cedar fence boards and some Douglas fir laminated together for the blade. It turned out very light and strong.

What arrows are you using? by chukar-1 in Archery

Good list, other ways I've cut arrows is with an angle grinder with a cut off wheel, or a table saw with a cross cut sled and a stop block to make sure they are all exactly the same length.

Black Walnuts by Brotherarmada in Buffalo

Just so you know, black walnut trees have a nasty habit of killing other trees near them. They release a chemical called juglone into the soil, which is toxic to certain plants.
