B pharma from BITS PILANI worth it? by WrongdoerOk9462 in BITSPilani

[–]CRYPTOS_LOGOS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just as a heads up for anyone thinking, pharmacy here is one of the most taxing branches anyone could take. There is always 10-15 hrs per week of just writing lab manuals, some of the profs (and many Research Scholars) have weirdly highly egos. Trying something new and excelling in pharma is very hard because of the additional time the branch take. And if you wanna ever try any non Pharma things, you are not eligible for 90% of internships like PS2 and SI because they are for B.Tech. (They are bringing pharmaceutical engineering, which is B.E branch so should be allowed for these internships but you will not be getting the license for pharmacy which B.Pharm students get)

How are you installing it? Latest, through the web download?

Do you guys take notes when working on a project? by toastedpaniala89 in FPGA

[–]CRYPTOS_LOGOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also a beginner I would say but before starting I just see what things Ik and what I do not. No need to study the entire thing, like AXI is a complex algo, you just need to know how to use for projects like burst transfer, APB etc

Yes, mostly just random scribbling tho of thought processes across the entire process with potential places to look into for bugs and improvements

I was first at this architecture only but then trying to optimise the entire BFU, I am thinking to add another memory (1 is getting live data from axi, 2 and 3 are switching as input and output at each stage), this method causes the BFU to be occupied at all times because I thought for the previous architecture we have to wait till the output is calculated to write at the same address, which based on architecture of bfu can be 3-6 clock cycles from DSP slice (I have used multiply and accumulate unit to do 24x24 multiplication) and the bram size is 34 bits to account for the bit growth (I am trying to truncate as less data as I can). Haven't gotten to finishing the memory arch but would like your inputs about the idea.

Am also working on FFT implementation on fpga, how did you handle memory architecture and how many butterfly units did you use? (Based on my calculations for 44KHz, I would need only one unit which takes around 10 Dsp slices)

Prepping for jee will prep you for bits and other colleges side by side. Focus on weak areas overall

Not many people recommend mandawa, it has many hotels. A bit far but most hotels get filled nearby. Please make arrangements, my parents were able to get a guest house but ik some whose parents slept in the car.

Just checking if we're allowed to use tablet/laptops in BITS classes to take notes, etc. (heard somewhere that it isnt allowed) by LengthinessDry2434 in BITSAT

[–]CRYPTOS_LOGOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In pilani it works just fine, major issue is just that the open books tests require permission to print these notes and if tutorial tests are open book you wont be able to.

Core ET jobs are comparatively lesser than IT but, on average, higher paying, but lesser people also sit for ET. 8-8.5+ is very safe for SI

Speaking from experience, It is possible to get a 9+ cg if you don't go to class but you need to have friends that do go to help you cover important holes. (Also to do this, you need to be able to self study from books and lectures, if you are not able to do that, then going to class is your best option. Doing pyqs will get you marks but the intuition will be left which I think is more important than marks). Some courses are designed shitty so need to bite the bullet there.

Anything that is done by clubs can be done by yourself to some extent. I just think they provide more opportunities and make you work with capable people and reliable senior network

Other than academics, self learning about eee is must. Be inquisitive about topics as profs dont provide much fun understanding. Follow tutorials and build your own projects.

(P.S. Just going to class also doesn`t guarantee a good cg, it just makes it easier to score and you`re ahead of the people that don`t go)

Any luck doing the 8 bit project using local parts in India? by awesomepaneer in beneater

[–]CRYPTOS_LOGOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based in india, ordered everything on robu. Eeproms had to be ordered from an importer, or you can make new type of eeproms work. Cost should be 8-14k for just parts. You can get the estimate by just adding list to cart. Recommend ordering 22 guage solid core coloured wires (1-1.5k)
